New York City Dashers

Overview

In accordance with New York City law, we've introduced changes in the experience for all NYC Dashers.

Maximum Drop-off Distance Preferences

New York City Dashers can set a maximum drop-off distance preference in the Dasher app. This preference lets you choose the maximum distance, in 1 mile increments, you’re willing to travel from the first pickup location to the farthest drop-off location.

Distance preferences are set in straight-line distance from the first pickup location to the farthest drop-off location. Once your preference is saved, you’ll only receive offers for trips below your saved maximum drop-off distance.

FAQs

Q: What is a maximum drop-off distance preference?

A: A maximum drop-off distance preference gives you the option to set how far you’re willing to travel from the first pickup location to the farthest drop-off location based on direct distance (straight-line). Actual distance traveled on delivery may be higher or vary based on the route you take. Once a preference is saved, you’ll only receive offers for deliveries that align with your preference

Q: How do I set my preference?

Migrated from Salesforce: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/eay8Zo_uTXWkSOiXpxABIfxCULqd8-q1XdYcZOeplJF32s3lxX7vZdR1o4D7uaXeTQRg3-ZFKdWTHlbU2u9gTb8f2mOINEaEvXaUvRuMr0U04WHFmDVqaVVDNzESNhBnbCWUmdBq
  1. Tap the Account tab in the Dasher App

  2. Tap Dash Preferences from the sidebar

  3. To set the maximum distance you’d be willing to travel from the first pickup location to the farthest drop-off location, tap the edit icon and choose your maximum drop-off distance using the + or - icons.

  4. You can edit (or remove) your maximum distance preference at any time. Please note it will take ~1-2 minutes for your preference to update in our system.

Q: Do I have to set a maximum drop-off distance preference?

A: No. This is optional, and you can adjust or turn your maximum drop-off distance preference on or off as many times as you’d like, whenever you like. Note that lowering your max distance preference can reduce the number of orders you receive.

Q: Why do I now see two distances on an offer?

A: New York City  law requires that offers for NYC deliveries show two distance estimates: the direct distance (a straight-line measurement from the first pickup location to the farthest drop-off location) and the estimated travel distance (the actual route you'd drive, bike, or walk). Your maximum drop-off distance preference is based on direct distance, not the routed distance, so the travel distance on a delivery may end up being longer than your saved preference.

Q: Will I receive offers that cross a bridge or tunnel?

A: Currently, New York City Dashers do not receive offers that require travel over a bridge or through a tunnel.
