Overview

The DasherDirect account and DasherDirect Business Prepaid Visa Card are designed to provide unique and convenient services to Dashers within the United States.  

These services include mobile services, and a loyalty and rewards program through a Prepaid Visa Card which provides:

  • Get paid instantly for no fee: With DasherDirect, the earnings from your deliveries are deposited instantly at the end of every dash -- for no-fee -- so you can access your cash when you need it. Please note that the daily payout limit from DoorDash to your DasherDirect account is limited to $1,000 for security reasons. If the daily payout limit exceeds $1,000, the remaining balance will be added to your next payout.

  • The limited-time offer of 10% cashback on gas purchase ended on August 31, 2022, as previously announced. Get 2% back on gas on every gas purchase at one of the locations found in the DasherDirect app's Rewards page, when you pay with your DasherDirect prepaid business Visa card designed for Dashers.   • Money on your terms: Use the DasherDirect app to check your balance, transfer money, and find no-fee ATMs — all without worrying about overdraft fees or minimum balance requirements.

Q: How do I apply?

A: Signing up is easy - you can start your application here, or navigate to the ‘Earnings’ tab in your Dasher app and fill out the application from there. 

To ensure a smooth application process, make sure to enter your details correctly, including your full legal name, home address and social security number (SSN). 

  • Note: When applying for DasherDirect, the shipping address registered in your Dasher app will be used as your shipping address to send you your DasherDirect card. Take a moment to ensure your shipping address in your Dasher app is correct and up to date to avoid shipping to an incorrect address.

DasherDirect is exclusive to U.S. Dashers. You cannot forward your invitation to apply to DasherDirect to others, such as family or friends.  

You may only open one Dasher and one DasherDirect account. Applying for multiple Dasher or DasherDirect accounts is not permitted and may result in removal from the program.

Q: How do I get paid?

A: After your DasherDirect account is approved, your virtual card will be automatically available in the DasherDirect app and will be ready for immediate use. To get automatic deposits so your DoorDash earnings are added to your DasherDirect account, make sure to update your payout method to DasherDirect through the Earnings tab of your Dasher app. 

You can use your virtual card for online purchases, bill pay, transfers and any transactions that do not require you to swipe or insert a card. 

In the 'Manage Card' section of the DasherDirect app, you can view your DasherDirect virtual card or activate your physical card once it arrives.

Earnings payouts to your DasherDirect card are usually available by the next morning. If you’re using Instant Direct Deposit, expect to see those earnings after you end your Dash. Tips are also automatically deposited, either in the same payout (if the customer adds the tip in time) or in another payout up to 30 days after the Dash is completed (if the customer adds the tip at a later date).

If your Dasher payouts are lower than expected, or your expected Dasher payouts are not loaded to your card, please contact DoorDash Support.

Note: Fast Pay and DasherDirect can't be used together. Once you've activated your physical DasherDirect card, your account will be set to automatic payouts. To switch your payout method to weekly direct deposits or Fast Pay (fees apply), tap the 'Bank' icon and on the Earnings screen in your Dasher app, then tap 'Switch Payout Account'.

Q: What is Payfare?

A: Payfare is a company that DoorDash partnered with to provide DasherDirect. Payfare provides the mobile app technology and the DasherDirect card is issued by Stride Bank, member FDIC.

DasherDirect Rewards & Program Perks

Instant no-fee daily direct deposit

  • Once you are approved for DasherDirect and you choose DasherDirect as your payout method, you can get your Dasher earnings automatically deposited to your DasherDirect account after each dash for free. Please note: you will need to select DasherDirect as your payment method in order to use this feature.

  • Tips are also automatically added to your DasherDirect card within 24 hours after a customer adds a tip, which may occur up to 30 days after a dash is completed.

Cashback on all gas purchases you make with your DasherDirect card

  • Cashback rewards become available for redemption in your DasherDirect app, as qualifying purchases settle. 

  • Make sure you’re enrolled in Visa SavingsEdge to maximize your reward offers. Review the “Rewards” section, and the eligibility and terms of rewards closely, as offers are always changing. To accept an offer, open the offer and tap the "Shop" button. You will be redirected to the merchant's app or website, where you can complete the purchase with your DasherDirect card.

  • You can track your rewards in the DasherDirect app.  

  • Rewards categories and amounts are subject to change without notice. See the Payfare Program Terms for further details.  

Upside CashBack Rewards

  • Upside Cashback rewards are offers that can be claimed on DasherDirect app. Visit the “Perks” section of the DasherDirect app to find currently available offers, eligibility and terms; including cash back on gas, groceries, dining and more. Upside gas rewards are in addition to the typical 2% cash back. Offers may vary depending on the offer a merchant promotes at the time. For restaurant offers, your cash back will be a percentage of your total bill, before tips and taxes. Additionally, the percentage of cash back, as well as the minimum and maximum bill thresholds, can vary by offer.

  • To earn cash back on eligible purchases at local businesses, Dasher must claim the offer within the “Perks” section in the DasherDirect app before visiting the participating merchant, check In on DasherDirect app at merchant location and pay for the purchase with DasherDirect card.

  • Offers Limits: Dashers can claim up to a total of 5 offers per day.

    • Gas: Dashers can claim up to 2 gas offers per merchant site per day.

    • Restaurant & grocery: Dashers can claim up to 1 offer per merchant site per day.

    • Gas & restaurant offers are valid up to 4 hours after an offer is claimed. Grocery offers are valid up to 24 hours after an offer is claimed.  

    • If Dashers hit the 5 offer limit and want to claim a different offer, they'll have the option to unclaim an offer in the applicable merchant category (gas or grocery / restaurant).

Mobile banking functionality

  • DasherDirect is a secure, full-featured card and mobile banking app.  

  • You can withdraw cash for free, with access to over 20,000 no-fee ATMS all over the country.  Find nearby no-fee ATM locations in the DasherDirect app.  

  • You can also pay bills, send funds, and add other direct deposits or cash onto your card.  

  • Limits and fees may apply - see the DasherDirect cardholder agreement for further details.   

Q: What is a DasherDirect Business Prepaid Visa Card?

A: DasherDirect Business Prepaid Visa Card is linked to your DasherDirect account.

Once your DasherDirect application is approved, a virtual card can be used while you are waiting for your physical card. Please note that once you've activated your physical card, your virtual card will automatically close.

There is no PIN for the virtual card. This means you can use your virtual card for online purchases, to make online bill payments, to transfer funds, and accept direct deposits, and non-PIN transactions.

Note: Most merchants that ask for a PIN, hitting the green “Enter” button is enough, but if it doesn't work, you can use your year of birth. Example: If you were born on March 30, 1999, your PIN would be 1999.

Your new physical DasherDirect card will be mailed to you when your application has been approved and should arrive in 2-3 weeks. 

Q: How do I receive my physical DasherDirect card?

A: Your new DasherDirect Business Prepaid Visa Card will be mailed to you upon approval of your application. It may take 2-3 weeks for you to receive your card. You can't pick up the card at a physical location.

  • You will also receive a virtual card that you can use while the physical card is in transit. 

Q: What can I do with my virtual card?

A: To access your virtual card information, download the DasherDirect app from the app store. Once you have added your virtual card information to Apple Pay or Google Pay, you can use it to access your earnings instantly to make in-store or online purchases where those methods are accepted. 

In the case where you need to withdraw cash before your physical card arrives, you can transfer money for free to a bank account of your choice by using your DasherDirect app.

Q: How do I activate the physical DasherDirect card?

A: When you receive your physical card, here’s how to activate it:

If you haven't logged into your DasherDirect mobile app yet:

  1. Install the DasherDirect app and tap 'Get Started'

  2. Follow the instructions until prompted to activate your card

  3. Scan the square QR code on the front of the instructions that came with your DasherDirect card, or manually enter the card's last 4 digits and expiration date (MM/YY)

  4. Create a PIN for your new DasherDirect card - remember to keep your PIN secure, do not write it down or share it with anyone.

If you have already logged into the DasherDirect app:

  1. From the main menu, tap 'Manage card' and then tap 'Activate your card' 

  2. Manually enter the card's last 4 digits and expiration date (MM/YY), or scan the square QR code on the front of the instructions that came with your DasherDirect card.

  3. Create a PIN for your DasherDirect card - remember to keep your PIN secure, do not write it down or share it with anyone. 

    Remember, your virtual card can be used while you are waiting for your physical card. 

    To view your virtual card, tap on 'Manage Card' and then the 'View Virtual Card' button. For your security, if there is no activity while viewing your virtual card for more than 5 minutes, the screen will time out.

    Please note that once you've activated your physical card, your virtual card will automatically close.

Q: How do I report the card as lost or stolen?

A: If you have lost your DasherDirect card or it has been stolen, please take the following steps to secure your card.

From the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Manage Card' and 'Lock card.'  This ensures that neither your DasherDirect card nor your virtual card cannot be used. You can unlock your card later after it’s found.

Card Replacement

  1. From the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Report a card issue'.

  2. Under 'Reason,' choose if the card is lost, stolen, or damaged, enter a description if applicable, and then tap 'Next'.

  3. Confirm your shipping address, updating it if necessary, and then tap 'Next'. 

This will permanently disable your DasherDirect card and a replacement card will be sent to you (allow 2-3 weeks for delivery). You will receive a new replacement virtual card immediately, so you can continue to receive your earnings deposits and make online purchases and payments. 

Here’s how you can view your card status:

From the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Manage card' and 'Card status (View/Change)'

  • Active - You can use your DasherDirect card and the app for all available transactions.

  • Locked - Your physical DasherDirect card cannot be used but you can still use your DasherDirect app to initiate transactions, such as bill payments and fund transfers. Your Dasher earnings will continue to be automatically added to your DasherDirect card daily.

  • Fraud-block - To keep your card secure, no transactions are possible due to a suspected fraudulent transaction; contact DasherDirect Help for assistance.

While your new physical card is on its way, a new virtual card will be created and available for you in the DasherDirect app. 

You can use the virtual card to initiate transactions such as bill payments and fund transfers, as well as online and in-app purchases. Your Dasher earnings will continue to be automatically added to your DasherDirect card daily.

Changing Your DasherDirect Card's PIN

From the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Manage card' and 'Change your PIN.'

Note that your virtual card does not use a PIN and DasherDirect Help will never ask you for your physical card's PIN.  Keep your PIN confidential and do not share it with anyone.

Wrong PIN

After multiple unsuccessful PIN attempts to use your DasherDirect card, the card will automatically be suspended for your security.  Please contact DasherDirect Help to reset it by tapping the button below.

Wellness Perks by Avibra

Q: What is Wellness Perks by Avibra?

A: Wellness Perks by Avibra is an exclusive offer for Dashers including well-being support, life and accidental death insurance, and more. To be eligible, Dashers must remain an active dasher and have their payout method set to DasherDirect in the Dasher app.  (e.g. payout within the last 30 days). There is no membership fee, but there are optional coverage and services available for Wellness Perks Essentials for $1.00 per week.  Please see the Perks section of the DasherDirect app to learn more and check the services that are currently available.

Q: Differences between Wellness Perks by Avibra Core and Wellness Perks by Avibra Essentials

A: Wellness Perks by Avibra Core offers qualifying DasherDirect Dashers insurance coverage, wellness perks and more. To keep Avibra Wellness Perks Core activated, Dashers must log into the Avibra app monthly and tap “Renew”. Some free perks include: 

  • $10,000 AD&D insurance immediately

  • $1,000 life insurance immediately with the ability to earn $4,000 more in the Avibra app

  • 24/7 Well-being Advisor

Additionally Dashers can upgrade and add on optional Wellness Perks by Avibra Essentials coverage to meet your needs for $1.00 per week. Coverage options change from time to time, Dashers must check the Perks section of DasherDirect app for full details. Some options include:

  • Roadside assistance

  • Identity theft monitoring

  • Family telemedicine

  • Cell phone protection

  • Family vision savings pass

  • On demand fitness & nutrition

  • Family dental plans

Q: How to apply to Wellness Perks by Avibra Core or/and Wellness Perks by Avibra Essentials

A: Eligible Dashers should have the sign up to Wellness Perks by Avibra option on DasherDirect app in Perks Section and follow the app instructions, Dashers must have the app version 1.8.4 or higher to access Wellness Perks. 

Q: Wellness Perks by Avibra Insurance claim and redemption for Family members. 

A:  Dashers will need to download the Avibra app to add or change beneficiary information and manage Wellness Perks by Avibra Core or Essentials services. Dashers can find relevant information to file a claim in the Avibra app or should contact [email protected] for support.

Troubleshooting Steps

Q: How do I make account or profile updates?

A: It’s important to keep your contact information up to date so we can reach you and share important updates about your DasherDirect card.  To update your address, mobile number or other contact details, go to the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Settings' and 'Edit profile.'  Tap on the pencil icon to change your contact information.

Changing mobile number, email address, or home address

Go to 'Settings' from the main menu in the DasherDirect app and tap 'Edit profile' to update your information.

Note, your current home address is required on file for regulatory purposes.  If you update your address to a mailbox or dropbox address (such as a UPS, Fedex or post office address), your DasherDirect account will be suspended.  

If you need to order a new card, you can enter a mailbox address for shipping purposes when prompted.

Viewing your DasherDirect account number

To see your routing number and account number, from the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Settings' and 'See bank details.'

Q: How do I change my account password?

A: From the main menu in the DasherDirect app, tap 'Settings' and 'Change password.'

Using Your Android's Fingerprint ID or iPhone's FaceID

  1. You can log into the DasherDirect mobile app using your Android's fingerprint reader or iPhone's FaceID instead of entering your password.  For this to work, your mobile phone must already be set up for fingerprint or FaceID to unlock your phone.

  2. You can set this up right from the DasherDirect app's login page. You can also set this up from the app's main menu by tapping 'Settings' and checking 'Fingerprint ID' on Android or 'FaceID' on iPhone.

Account Lockout

Your account will be locked out due to incorrect One Time Password (OTP) during the following activities:

  • Forgot Password reset

  • Input account information for security purposes on Forgot password flow 

  • Two-factor authentication on login

  • Changing email and phone number

A pop-up message will show that your account is locked for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes countdown, you can try again to do the activities mentioned above. If you tap out of the pop-up and try again, the same pop-up will be displayed with the time counting down. If you need to access your account immediately, you can contact our support.

Payments

Q: How do I report an unauthorized transaction?

A: If you notice a transaction that you did not authorize, lock your DasherDirect card immediately (see ‘Manage card’ from the main menu) until you are confident your card was not compromised.

The quickest way to resolve the transaction is to contact the merchant.  If this does not resolve the issue, you have up to 10 days after the transaction post date to file a dispute claim with DasherDirect Help.  When reporting an unauthorized transaction, you will be asked for additional information about the transaction, including the results of your escalation with the merchant.

Please note your DasherDirect card will need to be replaced for security reasons.

Note transactions made using your PIN are not eligible for Zero Liability coverage.  For further details on Zero Liability coverage, see the cardholder agreement in the ‘Legal’ tab in the main menu.  

Please note you can continue to use the DasherDirect app for transactions while you wait for your new card.  Your Dasher payouts will not be affected.  A replacement card will be mailed to you and should arrive within 2-3 weeks after a new card has been ordered and you will receive a virtual replacement card immediately.

Q: How do I make transfers?

A: You can make transfers by following instructions below

Sending Money

Funds can be transferred to any US bank account.These transfers cannot be expedited and are dependent on banking services. Steps to transfer money:

  • Launch and sign into the DasherDirect app

  • Tap “More” on the bottom right of the main screen

  • Tap “Move Money”

  • Tap “Send Money” and select "To yourself" or "To someone else"

  • Add a new recipient, or choose one that is already added

  • Enter the dollar amount to transfer, within available limits

  • Tap Send Transfer

Transfer Money to yourself:

When you tap Send Money "To yourself",  you can select a linked account or add a new bank account. Note you cannot send a check to yourself using 'Pay a bill. To add a new bank account:

  • Tap the "Bank account" icon.

  • Several fields are presented which must be completed in order to link the bank account. 

  • Once all required fields have been entered, tap "Link Bank Account" at the bottom of the page.

    • Once added, the account details will be saved for future use.

  • You will be redirected to the Send Money page where you can then select the bank account from the list.

  • After selecting the account, enter the dollar amount to transfer and then tap on "Confirm Transfer".

Money Transfer to yourself

Transfer Money to someone else:

When you tap Send Money "To someone else", you can select a linked account or add a new bank account by tapping "Add Recipient". To add a new recipient for a money transfer:

  • Tap the “+” icon beside Add

  • Several fields are presented which must be completed in order to add a new recipient, divided into 2 sections:

    • “Recipient Details”

      • First name

      • Last name

      • Nickname (optional)

      • Mobile number

    • “Transfer Info”

      • Bank name

      • Account type

      • Account Number

      • Confirm account number

      • Routing Number

  • Once all required fields have been entered, tap "Save" at the bottom of the page.

  • This recipient will also be saved in the recipient list for future use. 

  • You will be redirected to the Send Money page where you can then select the newly added recipient from the list.

    Money transfer to someone

The recipient should receive the funds within 1-2 business days. You can click on the tooltip to learn more about business days.

If you’re trying to send money on weekends or holidays, you will get a pop-up message saying that you can submit your transfer today but it will be processed the next business day. If you have other questions, you can just simply click on the help icon in the top right corner that links to relevant help topics.

Transfer Limits

Transfer funds to someone in the U.S., free of charge.  Limits apply to transferring funds from your DasherDirect card:

  • $2000/day, 3 transfers/day (a day is any 24-hour period)

  • $5000/month, 30 transfers/month (a month is any 30-day period)

Transfer time is next business day if sent before midnight Eastern Time.

Transfer Status

You will see a confirmation number in the DasherDirect app when the transfer is submitted and will receive a push notification to your phone when it has been accepted

Canceling Transfers

Sending money to a bank account can be canceled only before the bank's "same-day cutoff”, you may still have the option to cancel it on the Move Money menu on your DasherDirect app. If you don’t see the option to cancel the transfer, this means the transfer was successful. Please note that the cut-off time depends on your bank’s business hours.

Q: How do deposits and ATM withdrawals work?

A: Below are how deposits and ATM withdrawals work

Cash Deposits

DasherDirect cardholders can load physical cash onto their DasherDirect card in the following two ways: 

  • Green Dot, powered by Visa: CH can deposit cash to DasherDirect account at thousands of participating locations nationwide.

  • Deposit cash at select ATM locations: Cardholders can securely and conveniently deposit cash at select ATMs near them.

Cash Deposit at ATM

  • Cardholders can securely and conveniently deposit cash at select ATMs near them

  • CHs will be able to do cash deposits at Allpoint+ ATMs

  • Currently, there are more than 2500 AllPoint+ ATM locations in the US where CHs can deposit cash for a fee 

  • A $2.50 service fee is applicable for all cash deposits 

Limits apply: Maximum of $250 per cash deposit 

  • Per 24 hours

    • up to $500

    • up to 10 deposits 

  • Per 30 days

    • up to $3,000

    • up to 150 deposits 

The limits are rolling - not based on calendar days

In-app Experience to deposit cash at ATM:

In the DasherDirect app, main dashboard, cardholders will see "Cash Deposit ATMs". Tapping the ‘Learn More’ button will navigate to the Cash Deposit help article.

A cash deposit at an ATM will appear as an ATM Money Load PIN Transaction and a separate transaction for ATM cash deposit fee in Trinity (“ATM Money Load PIN transaction”).

Cash Reload using Green Dot Service

  • Green Dot is a Visa-powered service that lets DasherDirect cardholders load physical cash onto their cards as merchants.

  • CHs can deposit cash to DasherDirect account at thousands of participating locations nationwide.

  • CHs will have to swipe their DasherDirect card at the register to deposit cash. At most retailers, money will be available in a DasherDirect account right away, typically within 30 minutes.

  • Per 24 hours

    • up to $1,500

    • up to 10 

  • Per 30 days

    • up to $3,000

    • up to 300

ATMs and withdrawals

Use your DasherDirect app to find ATMs near you. 

If you allow the DasherDirect app to access your location, the DasherDirect app will find nearby free or low-fee ($2.50) Allpoint ATMs. You can just simply go to 'Quick Services' and click on 'Find an ATM Near You'.

You can also make withdrawals from any ATM that accepts VISA for $2.50 per withdrawal. Note that these ATMs may charge an additional surcharge to the withdrawal amount.

When the ATM prompts you for the type of account, choose "Checking."

You must insert your card and enter your PIN correctly in order to withdraw funds.  Keep a copy of your receipt for your records.

ATM cash withdrawal limits are:

  • 5 ATM transactions up to a total of $1000 per day (a day is any 24-hour period)

  • 150 ATM transactions up to a total of $5000 per month (a month is any 30-day period)

If an ATM fails to provide the correct amount of cash in a withdrawal, you will need to contact the ATM operator.  ATMs are owned and operated by separate companies.

Note: You can make a cash withdrawal with purchases made through participating merchants. You must have enough funds in your card to complete the withdrawal.

The maximum cash withdrawal per transaction is $100. In addition, each withdrawal is subject to the participating merchant’s in-store limits.

Where applicable, you will only earn rewards on the purchase amount, not the amount of cash withdrawn.

Q: Why was my transaction declined when I attempted to make a purchase?

A: Some countries are blocked for cardholder security and protection, due to government restrictions on sanctioned countries and/or due to high levels of card related fraud.  At the time you made that purchase, the transaction was declined to protect you, the cardholder.

Q: Where to locate my Statements and Account Information?

A: In the Account main screen, tap on ‘Account Balance’ and click ‘Statements’ to view your transactions, statements, and account information.
