How do I get matched with offers?

2 min de lecture

Every day, DoorDash connects customers with the best of their local neighborhoods, helping small businesses grow while creating opportunities for Dashers to earn. To do this, our offer system considers many variables within just seconds to connect the right Dasher for each order. Simply put - better matches mean customers get their orders faster, merchants better serve their customers, and Dashers maximize their earnings.

Q: How does DoorDash match offers with Dashers?
We aim to send any given offer to the best available Dasher – one we hope will provide the best outcomes in terms of timeliness, safety, quality, and efficiency.

We consider many different factors in matching an offer to a Dasher, such as:

  • Availability: Is the Dasher online and ready to accept and complete offers? Did the Dasher choose Earn-by-Time or Earn-by-Offer mode? Are there other Dashers that may come available soon, such as a Dasher finishing a delivery nearby?

  • Location and Estimated Delivery Time: Where is the Dasher in relation to the merchant? How long do we estimate it will take that Dasher to complete the delivery?

  • Dasher Ratings and Rewards: What are the Dasher’s ratings in the Ratings tab, and do they qualify the Dasher for a Rewards tier?

  • Historical Delivery Outcomes: Is the Dasher new to the platform? How often has the Dasher successfully completed their previous offers with high quality? For example: Has the Dasher successfully navigated difficult apartment buildings in the past?

  • Equipment, Eligibility, and Preferences: Does the Dasher have the equipment or necessary certifications to complete the delivery? Have they enabled that delivery type on their preferences tab or otherwise expressed interest in a certain delivery type? For example: Does the Dasher have a pizza bag? A bike? A Red Card? Did they enable shop-and-deliver offers in the Dasher app? Are they legally permitted to deliver alcohol?

Additional Considerations

The number of offers a Dasher receives also depends on supply and demand factors outside of their control–such as the time of day, day of the week, and the weather. DoorDash may also change how we match offers in the future, including adding new factors or removing factors. And keep in mind that even for the highest quality Dashers, frequency of offers can vary from dash to dash.

Our Commitment to Safety

Importantly, our technology is designed to prioritize and promote safe driving behavior. For example, the ETAs shown in the Dasher app are calibrated such that a Dasher can reasonably and safely complete a delivery based on traffic trends and expected time at the store and customer location. There is never any reward for arriving early.
