Overview

Weather Impact Fee pilot: During certain weather events, you may see a Peak Pay promotion in your Dasher app. This additional pay is funded by a temporary Weather Impact Fee applied to customer orders. 100% of this fee goes to Peak Pay for Dashers delivering in the affected areas.

  • You’ll see the promotion listed in the Promotions tab of your Dasher app during specific storm conditions in the area covered by the pilot.

  • During the pilot, you’ll earn the listed Peak Pay for every eligible delivery you complete.

  • You’ll still earn your regular base pay and keep 100% of your tips on top of this Peak Pay.

  • Peak pay is always in addition to base pay and tips.

  • Dasher safety comes first — If conditions become hazardous, DoorDash may suspend operations in affected areas.

  • Be sure to check the Promotions tab within the Side Menu of the Dasher app to know when Peak Pay is active.

Q: Why is there Peak Pay earnings during storms?

A: Peak Pay provides additional earnings for Dashers during high-demand conditions, such as rain or cold weather. The Weather Impact Fee, which helps to fund Peak Pay distributed to Dashers delivering in affected areas, is temporary and is only added to customer orders during these specific weather situations.

Q: Do Dashers get to keep all of the Weather Impact Fee?

A: Yes. 100% of the Weather Impact Fee goes to Dashers delivering in the affected areas.

Q: Does this replace normal Dasher pay?

A: No. You’ll continue to earn your base pay for every order, plus 100% of tips. The Weather Impact Fee-funded Peak Pay is an additional earning opportunity.

Q: How long does it last?

A: This fee is only active during specific weather events. It will automatically end when conditions improve.

Q: How will customers know that the Weather Impact Fee is active?

A: The DoorDash app will show customers that Weather Impact Fee is active on the homepage, on a store’s page, and at several points of their checkout journey including when an order is placed and an additional reminder about the fee and its purpose at checkout.

Q: Is DoorDash incentivizing Dashers to stay on the road in difficult conditions?

A: No, the Weather Impact Fee only goes into effect when demand for delivery dramatically outpaces the number of available Dashers, but conditions are still safe enough to be on the road. If conditions change and become too unsafe, we will not hesitate to activate our Severe Weather Protocol.
