California Dasher Profile Pictures FAQ

Q: Why is my photo and name being shown to customers?
A: Starting March 1, 2025, California state law requires DoorDash to show a Dasher’s photo and first name to customers during deliveries in California.

Q: Can I opt out of having my photo shown to customers?
A: Providing customers with your photo and first name is required by law in California starting March 1. If you choose to dash in CA, your picture must be shared.

Q: What photo will be displayed?
A: A selfie from your identity verification will be used as your profile picture. You can see your profile picture by going to the Account tab in the Dasher app and tapping Profile. This photo will be displayed to customers during deliveries in California.

Q: How do I change my photo?
A: If you want to change your profile picture, go to the Account tab in your app and tap Profile. Go to Edit profile details and then tap the pencil icon near your profile picture. Follow the prompts to upload a new photo. To update your profile picture, and to help verify your identity, you need to upload a selfie, which is then processed by our service provider, Persona Identities, Inc. (“Persona”). Please note you can only edit your photo once per week, and each submission will be reviewed to verify your identity.

Q: What name will be displayed?
A: The first name on your Profile in the Account tab of the Dasher app will be displayed.

Q: How do I change my name?
A: Contact support by phone or in-app chat, and request an account update if your name has changed. Our support team can assist you with your request.

Q: What happens if I don’t have a profile picture?
A: When you try to dash next, your Dasher app will prompt you to upload a profile picture by taking a selfie and going through the identity verification process. Follow the prompts as provided and submit a photo of your face and only your face to continue dashing.

Q: Why was my profile picture rejected?
A: Profile pictures are required to clearly show your face. We may reject photos that obstruct your face (such as hands, sunglasses, or masks), are blurry, poorly lit, or include multiple people in the photo. We may also reject your photo if it contains any inappropriate content.

Q: What do I do while I wait for my new photo to be approved?
A: You can continue to dash while your photo is being reviewed.
