Commission & Tablet Fee Tax

2 min de lecture

Overview

In applicable U.S. states, DoorDash may be required to collect and remit state tax on a portion of the commission and tablet fees it charges merchants. This appears as itemized Commission Tax and Tablet Fee Tax lines on your statements and financial CSV files in the Merchant Portal.

What is the Commission and Tablet Fee Tax?

In certain US states, DoorDash is required to pay state taxes on the commissions and tablet fees it earns. DoorDash passes a portion of these taxes through to merchants as itemized Commission Tax and Tablet Fee Tax charges on your statements and financial CSV files.

Does this affect my payout?

Yes, in the states where it applies. DoorDash will pass through a Commission Tax and, where applicable, a Tablet Fee Tax to your account. These reflect the state taxes DoorDash is required to pay on the commissions and tablet fees it charges.

Where will I see the Commission and Tablet Fee Tax?

As itemized Commission Tax and Tablet Fee Tax lines on your payout statements and financial CSV files within the Merchant Portal. You can find your statements and financial CSV files in Report Builder, see How to Utilize DoorDash Reporting.

Why don't I see a Tablet Fee Tax?

Tax lines and columns are dynamic, meaning you will only see a Tablet Fee Tax if a tablet fee applies to your store. Your statements and financial CSV files show only the columns applicable to you.

Which tax applies, and where?

  • Texas

    • Texas state sales tax is applied on a portion of the commission and tablet fees, and came into effect on February 1, 2024.

  • Hawaii

    • Hawaii imposes a General Excise Tax (GET) on businesses operating in Hawaii, including on the commission and tablet fees DoorDash charges. DoorDash will pass through a portion of its GET obligation to merchants as permitted under Hawaii law, beginning August 1, 2026.

What if I use automation built off my CSV files?

If you operate in Hawaii and use any automation or downstream process built off your DoorDash financial CSV files, review your new CSV reports after August 1st, 2026 as new columns will be added. The two new columns being added are "commission fee tax” and “Tablet fee tax”.

What if I only have stores in Texas?

If you operate only in Texas the above columns have already been included since its launch in 2024.
