Eligible students at select colleges can now sign up for Free Student DashPass, providing all Student DashPass benefits for free while they are actively enrolled in school. Read on to learn how to see if your school is eligible for the offer, how to verify your student status, redeem your free membership, and understand what happens once you’re no longer a student.

What is the Free Student DashPass?

Free Student DashPass gives eligible college students free Student DashPass membership while they are actively enrolled at select universities. You’ll enjoy the same benefits as a Student DashPass member—like $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders and at no cost while your student status is verified.

When your student status changes (for example, after graduation), your membership will automatically transition to a $9.99/month (plus tax)  DashPass monthly plan. You’ll receive an email notification 30 days before that transition happens.

Who is eligible for Free Student DashPass?

To qualify, you must:

  • Be actively enrolled as a student at one of the following universities:

    • Central Michigan University

    • East Carolina University

    • Grand Valley State University

    • Pennsylvania State University (University Park)

    • University of Alabama

    • University of Akron (Akron)

  • Successfully verify your enrollment through SheerID, our verification partner.

This offer is available for a limited time and only to students enrolled at the participating universities stated above. If you do not attend any of the eligible universities, you can review our DashPass for Students Help Center article for more information about regular Student DashPass membership.

How do I sign up for Free Student DashPass?

  1. Set your DoorDash app location to your school address. The offer only appears to students located near eligible campuses.

  2. Tap the Free Student DashPass banner or visit the standard DashPass landing page.

  3. Complete student verification through SheerID by entering your name, school, birth date and student (.edu) email address.

  4. Once verified, redeem your Free Student DashPass offer and enjoy instant access to eligible benefits.

If you’re already a paid DashPass member, cancel your existing plan first to activate your free membership. Please note you may have to wait until your paid billing cycle ends in order to redeem the offer.

Why don’t I see the Free Student DashPass offer in my app?

If you don’t see the offer:

  • Make sure your location is set to your school address in the DoorDash app. The offer is only visible within participating locations.

  • The offer is only available at select participating universities for a limited time.

  • If you already have a paid DashPass membership, cancel your existing plan first to activate your free membership. Please note you may have to wait until your paid billing cycle ends in order to redeem the offer.

What benefits do I get with Free Student DashPass?

Free Student DashPass members receive the same benefits as Student DashPass members, including:

  • $0 delivery fees on eligible orders

  • Reduced service fees on the same eligible orders

  • Access to exclusive DashPass promotions and rewards

  • And more

Student DashPass benefits apply only to eligible orders from DashPass merchants that meet the minimum subtotal requirement, excluding fees and taxes. Subtotal minimums will be identified on DoorDash for each DashPass eligible merchant. Other fees (including service fee), taxes, and gratuity still apply. How long will my Free Student DashPass last?

Your Free Student DashPass remains active as long as SheerID verifies your student status. If  SheerID confirms you are no longer an active student, your membership will automatically transition to the standard $9.99/month (plus tax) DashPass monthly plan and you will automatically be charged $9.99/month (plus tax) on a recurring basis until you cancel your DashPass subscription. You will be charged to any payment method we have on file for your account.  

You’ll receive a 30-day advance email notice before this transition. You can cancel anytime before the transition date to avoid being charged if you prefer not to continue.

How does DoorDash verify that I’m a student?

DoorDash partners with SheerID, a trusted verification provider, to confirm your enrollment. During sign-up, SheerID will ask you to provide information such as your name, date of birth, school, and student email address.

If automatic verification fails, SheerID may prompt you to upload a school-issued document (e.g., transcript, class schedule, or tuition receipt) for review in order for SheerID to verify your status as an eligible student.

What should I do if verification fails?

If your student verification fails, SheerID will guide you through manual verification. You’ll be asked to upload an official school-issued document (such as a transcript, class schedule, or tuition receipt). Reviews typically take up to 24 hours, and you’ll receive an email once SheerID finishes reviewing your information.

Can I have Free Student DashPass on more than one account?

No. Each student can only have one verified DoorDash account with Free Student DashPass benefits.

Can I switch my Free Student DashPass to another account?

No. Once your student status has been verified, the Free Student DashPass membership cannot be transferred to a different DoorDash account.

What happens after I’m no longer a student?

When SheerID confirms you’re no longer an active student, your membership will automatically transition to a $9.99/month paid monthly DashPass plan. You will be provided  an email 30-days prior to the transition. You can cancel at any time before that date to avoid being charged.

Who do I contact if I have issues verifying my student status?

For verification issues, please contact SheerID directly through the link provided on the verification page. If you’ve already been verified but are having trouble redeeming or activating your membership, contact DoorDash Support.
