New pickup process near you: Lower wait, more earnings
Q: Why do pickups at these stores look different?
A: We have heard from Dashers that long wait times at restaurants can be frustrating when waiting for an order to be ready. This new process means that instead of waiting for the restaurant to finish preparing orders, Dashers can grab the first orders ready at the store and head out to deliver them. Since we don’t know what orders will be ready first, we are providing an earnings minimum for the time and distance spent on these deliveries. We’re testing this process at a few locations over the next few weeks.
Q: How do these orders work?
When you receive a delivery opportunity from select store locations, you will see the acceptance screen similar to the one below.
Once you get to the restaurant, the app will provide you with details about the order(s) you will be picking up.
After, we’ll use the time you spend on the delivery to calculate your DoorDash pay for that delivery, based on the hourly minimum shown in the acceptance screen prior to you accepting that order. This time begins when you accept a delivery opportunity from any of these stores and ends once you tap on “Delivered” after you drop the last item off with your customers. If you earn more than this, you’ll always keep the extra amount. You will also still receive 100% of tips on top of this amount.
When your delivery is complete, your app will show you how much you made in earnings for this delivery, including a breakdown of DoorDash pay and customer tips.

Q: Why don’t I see estimated mileage or delivery pay before accepting these delivery opportunities?
A: These orders are assigned to Dashers on a first-come, first-serve basis. Because of this, we don’t know which orders will be ready first and are providing you with an earnings minimum instead.
Q: Will I still receive 100% of my tips?
A: Yes, as always, Dashers will receive 100% of their tips on top of the DoorDash earnings guarantee.
Q: What if I don’t like these orders?
A: As always, you are free to decline any order you are offered, including orders from this store.
