IRS B Notice
IRS B-Notice
A B-Notice is a formal notice that the taxpayer identification number (TIN) associated with your Dasher account does not match the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) records. The IRS considers a TIN as incorrect if either the name or number shown on an account does not match a name and number combination in their files or the files of the Social Security Administration (SSA). For more information on why your TIN may be incorrect, please see these IRS guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a W9 form?
A: Per the IRS, a W-9 form is generally used to confirm the Tax ID Number of a US taxpayer.
Q: My payouts were blocked because I didn’t submit my W9 form, how do I get my payouts unblocked?
A: Follow the prompts in your email titled “[Action Required] Update Information to Continue DoorDash Store Payments” or “[Action Required] Update Your Tax Info to Continue Dashing” to access your Stripe Express account and complete the W9 tax form module. Please make sure you enter the name, taxpayer identification number, and address that matches both your account and matches the IRS database.
Please note: it could take up to two business days for payouts to be restored after a W9 tax form has been submitted and formally accepted. Learn more about this in the article linked below.
Q: My DoorDash Dasher account has been deactivated, how do I get my DoorDash account reactivated?
A: Use the link in the email titled “[Action Required] Update Your Tax Info to Continue Dashing” to kick off account verification. Once you’ve completed the verification step you will be asked to complete a form with questions about your tax residency status.
The W9 tax form must include a name, taxpayer identification number, and address that both matches your account AND matches the IRS database.
After you complete the submission DoorDash will be notified and review the status of your tax form submission to inform you if there are corrections needed. If no additional corrections are needed DoorDash will reactivate your Dasher account.
Q: How can I confirm my tax information/tax status with a W9 form?
A: You can confirm your tax status by completing and submitting a W9 tax form. You will be asked to provide an individual or business name, taxpayer identification number (TIN), and address. Lastly, you will also need to sign/certify and submit the W9 tax form to complete the process.
Q: I need to update my Personal or Professional information (name, TIN, address) but I am having issues.
A: Once you’ve set up your account with Stripe Express, you can update your personal and professional details from the “account details” page.
Q: I am having issues verifying my account. My information is correct - why am I getting rejected?
A: If you are having trouble verifying your account, please confirm with DoorDash that you are using the correct name, TIN, and date of birth. This information must be the same as the information used to sign up for your Dasher account. Once you’ve confirmed that, if you’re still having issues, please contact Stripe Support for assistance.
