We partner with samdesk, a global crisis detection platform, to help keep you out of harm’s way. In the event of a nearby emergency, we can alert you about the incident during a delivery and proactively cancel orders close to the impacted area, so you can avoid it.

Q: Which type of emergency alerts will I get notifications about?
A: You may receive notifications about unsafe situations nearby that pose a danger/risk of harm. For example, alerts could include active shootings, bomb threats, and building fires, etc.
Q: Will I get notifications about severe weather in my area?
A: DoorDash monitors weather and stops operations in areas experiencing hazardous weather. Depending on the situation, we may automatically pause deliveries across the affected regions. Additionally, we have developed a separate Severe Weather Protocol to respond to extreme weather events or natural disasters. We most recently activated the Severe Weather Protocol in response to Hurricane Ian which impacted the southeastern US
Q: How fast will I be notified?
A: Each emergency situation is unique and that can affect the speed with which we can gather real time information. We have a team of Safety Agents that monitor the emergency alerts 24/7 in order to relay potential dangerous events as quickly as we can.
Q: When would I receive an emergency alert notification?
A: The notifications are sent to Dashers during a delivery to a location experiencing a potentially unsafe event.
Q: What happens to my dash order during an emergency?
A: The safety of the Dashers community is something we take very seriously. To help prevent a Dasher from entering a potentially dangerous area caused by an unforeseen event, their order will automatically be canceled. You may still receive earnings from any orders canceled due to a crisis, depending on how long ago the order was assigned to you.
Q: Will the customer be notified about why the delivery was canceled?
A: Yes, we will proactively let your customer know that the delivery has been canceled due to an emergency situation, through no fault of the Dasher.
Q: Does a cancellation affect my Dasher rating?
A: No. An automatic order cancellation due to an emergency situation has no impact on your Dasher rating.
Q: How does an emergency cancellation affect my payment?
A: Cancellations are handled the same as with any other delivery , and pay can vary depending on when the order was placed and canceled.
