Dashing with CarPlay
Overview
Dashers can now use Apple CarPlay to sync their iPhone's interface with their car's built-in entertainment and information systems, helping drivers use key apps while reducing phone interactions. Integrating the Dasher app with Apple CarPlay will allow Dashers to seamlessly show the app’s navigation interface on their car’s built-in screens. This creates a more streamlined and seamless dashing experience, with less time focused on their phone and more time focused on the road.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do Dashers start using the Dasher App with CarPlay?
A: Simply connect your phone to CarPlay via Bluetooth or USB (depending on what your car supports) to get started. The Dasher App should automatically show up in the list of apps available on the CarPlay screen, and integrated parts of the Dasher app will display on the CarPlay screen accordingly (i.e. Navigation). If the Dasher App does not show up automatically on your CarPlay screen, navigate to the list of apps and select “Dasher App” to launch the experience manually.
Remember to switch to in-app navigation (from the account page) as your mapping service in order to support the Dasher App Carplay experience.
Q: What parts of the Dasher App are supported on CarPlay?
A: Currently, the integration will support turn-by-turn navigation, starting and ending navigation (when using In App Navigation) . At all other times, the Dasher app will show a map of the area alongside a blue arrow for the Dasher’s current location. We are actively working on integrating the Accept Modal as well - stay tuned over the coming months!
Q: What will Dashers see on the CarPlay screen? Will it be identical to what’s shown on the mobile version of the Dasher app?
A: The CarPlay screen will display all the key information in a more streamlined fashion to help Dashers focus on what’s most important. While connected to CarPlay, the screens on your mobile device will remain identical and are not changing for now.
Q: What about Android Auto / Android Dashers?
A: We’re initially launching the Dasher App on CarPlay for iOS devices. We hope to expand the feature to Android Auto at a later date!
Q: Which version of the Dasher app supports CarPlay?
A: To use CarPlay integration you will need the Dasher App Version 2.292.0 or above.
