At DoorDash, safety is a top priority, and we are committed to promoting driving safety in the communities we serve. That’s why we are piloting a new safety tool to provide select Dashers the choice to receive real time audio alerts when a hard brake is detected by the app.

Q: What is “Hard Braking”?
A: When you press on your vehicle brakes hard enough to cause a sudden or very quick, rather than a gradual stop. Research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found that hard braking is associated with an increased chance of getting into a car accident.
Q: How do Hard Brake Audio Alerts work?
A: By enabling Hard Brake Audio Alerts, Dashers will be notified with a real-time audio message in the Dasher app whenever a hard brake is detected. Dashers can use this information to better understand their driving tendencies and help promote road safety.
