What fees do I pay on Caviar and DoorDash?
When you place an order on DoorDash, you may be charged various fees. These fees go to DoorDash to help us cover our costs of fulfilling your order, paying Dashers, operating DoorDash, and enabling us to provide the best service possible. We’re constantly working to make DoorDash even more affordable and accessible. The exact fees you pay also depend on the merchant, your DashPass membership status, and any local regulations.
DoorDash is in the process of updating how we calculate fees so they better reflect how far an order travels and how much effort it takes to deliver it, in addition to the size of your order. Starting in late July, this rollout will take place over the coming months in all locations, but will not apply to orders in California, Chicago, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York City, Puerto Rico, and Seattle to start (for more info on fees in these markets, see the section called “DoorDash Fees in markets where fee updates are not rolled out at this time”).

Fees that may apply to your order in U.S. markets outside of California, Chicago, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York City, Puerto Rico, and Seattle are listed below. These fees go to DoorDash.
Service Fee: A variable fee that helps cover the cost of facilitating your delivery and that varies with factors like distance and order size. A flat, minimum service fee may apply.
Delivery Fee: A fixed fee per order that varies by merchant.
Long Distance Fee: You may have the option to place longer distance orders, and this fee helps cover the cost of completing the delivery.
Regulatory Response Fee: DoorDash may charge this fee when a local or state regulation leads to increased operating costs. This additional fee enables us to continue offering you convenient services and ensure Dashers make meaningful earnings. Regulatory response fees are flat fees that vary based on region.
Small Order Fee: In some cases, this fee is charged to enable us to make small transactions worthwhile to fulfill. A fee may be charged if your order subtotal is below a certain amount.
Weather Impact Fee: Occasionally during major weather events, DoorDash may charge an additional fee to support Dashers for their efforts in delivering orders during the weather event.
Optional Express Delivery Fee: On some orders in some areas, you can choose Express delivery for an additional fee.

Estimated Tax: Calculated based on local regulations and your order subtotal. The finalized tax appears on your order receipt.
Optional Dasher Tip: Every dollar you tip goes to your Dasher. Depending on your location, you can tip at checkout or after delivery. Dashers receive 100% of customer tips, and tipping is always optional.
Bag, Bottle, and Other Mandatory Fees: In some cases, government authorities require DoorDash to charge certain fees on bags and bottles, or for other reasons. These are applied as required by law.

DashPass is DoorDash's membership program. Under the updated fee structure, members continue to get:
$0 delivery fees on eligible orders;
A reduced service fee on eligible orders; and
$0 Long Distance Fee on eligible restaurant orders that meet a subtotal minimum.

How are delivery fees determined?
Fees vary for each restaurant. The fees help us pay Dashers, operate the DoorDash and Caviar platform, and provide the best service possible.
You can see the fees from the checkout screen so you’ll know what the total is for your order before paying. You’ll also receive a receipt showing a breakdown of the order subtotal, applicable taxes, fees, and gratuity.
The total cost of your order includes the price of the menu items and tax, an optional tip to the Dasher, and a delivery fee and service fee depending on the restaurant. In some cases, there may be an additional fee for orders below a minimum subtotal and for orders when demand is especially high.
In some regions, we offer DashPass—a subscription program that offers a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees for subscribers when ordering $12 or more from any DashPass-eligible restaurant (look for the checkmark). The subscription is $9.99/month, and you can cancel anytime with no strings attached. Customers can also order from hundreds of restaurants in their area on the DoorDash and Caviar platforms via Pickup with zero fees.

What is the service fee on my order summary?
Service fees vary between markets, since each region in which we operate is unique. A variable percentage-based fee is applied to each delivery order. You will always be shown the service fee prior to checkout.
We rely on revenue from fees to help us pay our Dashers, provide quality customer support and logistics, process payments, and pay for other costs associated with providing our service.
There are no service fees on pickup orders.
