Contact DoorDash Crimson Support by phone at 1-(833)296‑9399.

Overview

Overdraft Protection(1) is a feature designed to help cover Dashers from transaction declines when cash gaps happen — without a fee.

If your account runs low and you've opted-in, Overdraft Protection may step in, providing you have enough available coverage. The negative balance is automatically repaid from future deposits, like Dashing earnings or direct deposits.

How It Works

  • Personalized coverage: Coverage is based on your DoorDashCrimson account activity and Dashing activity.

  • No fee: Overdraft Protection is fee-free — there are no surprise charges.

  • Automatic repayment: Funds are repaid from future deposits into your DoorDash Crimson account.

General Frequently Asked Questions

What is Overdraft Protection?

Overdraft Protection allows eligible Dashers to overdraft, up to a predetermined dollar amount if a purchase would be declined because their available balance isn’t enough. It's a fee-free safety net designed for gig workers who rely on flexible income.

How do I become eligible for Overdraft Protection?

To become eligible for Overdraft Protection, you must meet one of the following:

  • Complete 25 lifetime deliveries, and spend $500 or more each calendar month using your DoorDash Crimson Card

  • Complete 25 lifetime deliveries, and deposit $500 or more each calendar month into DoorDash Crimson (from qualified direct deposits²)

Your eligibility is reviewed automatically and updated in real time. You can check your eligibility status anytime in the Crimson Hub in the Dasher app, and you’ll be notified when you’re eligible.

How do I opt-in?

Once eligible, you’ll receive a notification and can opt-in directly from the Crimson Hub in the Dasher app. You can opt-out of Overdraft Protection at any time.

How much coverage can I get?

Your overdraft coverage amount starts small and may increase over time based on:

  • Your DoorDash Crimson account activity and overall account usage, and Dashing activity

  • Your repayment history

Your current coverage amount is visible in the app.

How is it repaid?

Any future deposit into your DoorDash Crimson account (like Dashing payouts and deposits) is automatically used to repay any negative balance. There's nothing you need to do manually.

Are there any fees?

No. Overdraft Protection is completely fee-free.

What happens if I don't repay?

If your balance remains negative for 60 days, overdraft protection will be suspended and your DoorDash Crimson account will be closed. Any funds in your Savings Jar may be used to repay any negative balance.

Can I still use my DoorDash Crimson Card while overdrafted?

You can continue using your card as long as you have additional overdraft protection available. If you've reached your coverage amount, transactions will be declined until your account is brought back to positive.

How do I keep access to Overdraft Protection?

To maintain access:

  • Meet the ongoing eligibility requirements each calendar month

  • Repay any negative balance quickly

  • Continue using your DoorDash Crimson account regularly

You’ll be notified if your eligibility changes and you can always check in the app for your eligibility.

Can I use Overdraft Protection and Savings Jar at the same time?

Yes, but if your balance is negative due to overdraft, auto-saving will pause until your available balance returns to positive.

Is Overdraft Protection required to use Crimson?

No. Overdraft protection is optional. You can still use all other Crimson features without it.

1 Transactions covered by overdraft protection are one-time Crimson Card purchase transactions. Overdraft protection is not available for Instants Transfers, ATM transactions, or ACH debit transactions. We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay a transaction that could overdraw your account, your transaction will be declined. Repayment of any negative balance occurs automatically from future deposits. See your Overdraft Protection Notice for eligibility details.2 Qualifying direct deposits only include recurring ACH deposits and/or Original Credit Transaction (OCT) deposits from a benefits provider or employer (does not include gig economy payers).
