Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I need to verify my vehicle?
A: DC’s new Carrier for Hire law requires all Dashers dashing in the District of Columbia to verify the vehicle they use to dash beginning January 1, 2026.
Q: How do I verify my vehicle?
A: If you previously indicated in your Dasher profile that you are using a motor vehicle that must be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles, you will be prompted to verify your vehicle through the Dasher app. When prompted in the app, you will need to upload an original photo or a digital copy of the valid vehicle registration for the vehicle associated with your Dasher account. Please ensure your app is updated to the most recent version so that you receive the prompt and avoid any interruption to dashing in DC.
Q: Why can’t my vehicle registration be verified?
A: Please be sure to provide the valid registration associated with your selected vehicle. We may have trouble verifying your vehicle if:
The photo upload or digital copy you provided is blurry, dark, or not clearly legible.
You provided a registration document for a vehicle different from the one you currently selected to dash.
Your registration document has expired or is invalid.
Please note we can only accept a valid vehicle registration, and cannot accept images of license plates, registration applications, notifications to extend the validity, modified or edited registration documents, or any other document.
Q: I have multiple motorized vehicles — do I need to verify all my vehicles?
A: Dashers must verify the motor vehicle(s) they use to dash on the DoorDash platform. If you update your account to a different motorized vehicle, or use more than one vehicle, you will be asked to complete the verification process for each vehicle used to dash.
Q: How often do I need to verify my vehicle?
A: Verification occurs periodically, such as when your registration is expiring, or if you change or add a new vehicle in the Dasher app.
