Collections: Merchandising Items on Your Menu
Collections let you group items already on your menu into a themed showcase, such as new arrivals, seasonal specials, limited-time offers, or customer favorites. Featuring your most timely or popular items this way can help increase conversion and orders.
This article covers what Collections are, how to create and manage them, how they appear to customers, how to apply a Collection across multiple stores, and what to do if a Collection doesn't appear at one of your stores.
What customers see
On your store page, an active Collection appears in two places:
Header chip: a tappable chip at the top of your store page that takes customers to every item in the Collection in one place.
Spotlight section: a featured section further down your menu that replaces "Most Ordered."

Before you start
Items must already exist on your menu to be added to a Collection.
Items need an item photo to display in a Collection. Item photos are pulled automatically from your existing menu items.
You'll need a provide Collection header photo (see requirements below), or one can be auto-generated for you in the Collections tab
Create a Collection
Choose a suggested seasonal template (for example, Summer Specials) or start from scratch.
Select the items you want to feature.
Enter a Collection name.
Add or auto-generate a Collection header photo.
Set the Collection duration. The maximum is 100 days.
Choose which of your stores the Collection applies to.
Save.
Header photo requirements
The header photo is the spotlight image for the Collection section of your menu.
16:9 horizontal orientation
At least 1400 x 800 pixels
Under 20 MB
JPEG or PNG format
The food must stay the focal point. Collection headers can include limited campaign elements, such as short text.
Any text must be brief, secondary to the image, and directly about the food or the offer (for example, "made with real pumpkin").
Fine print, such as terms and conditions, must be minimal and placed at the bottom of the image.
Not allowed: callouts that describe specific item configurations or sizes (for example, a "large fries" bubble), and logos, branding, or slogans in the background.
This guidance applies to Collection headers only. Menu item images, store headers, and search positions remain under existing image policy.
Manage your Collections
Only accounts with Business Admin permissions can create, edit, or delete Collections. Go back to the Collections tab at any time to see your Collections. Each Collection is either:
Active: today's date falls within the Collection's date range.
Live: the Collection is currently displayed on your menu.
Scheduled: the Collection is scheduled to go live in the future
Ended: the Collection is past its date range and has ended

Only one Collection is live at a time – if multiple are within the active time period, the Collection with the earlier end date will show over the others. To change which Collection is live, set your other active Collections to inactive, change their end date to end after your desired Collection, or delete them.
To edit a Collection, select the pencil icon in the Collections table. To delete one, select the trash icon. You can update or refresh a Collection whenever your specials change.
Apply a Collection to multiple stores
If you manage more than one location, you can choose several stores when you create a Collection. DoorDash then applies the Collection to each selected, active store.
For each selected store, DoorDash looks for the same menu and the same items as at the store where you built the Collection. Where it finds a match, the Collection is created at that store. A match depends on two things:
Menu name: the menu containing the item must have the similar name at each store (for example, "Lunch").
Item name: each item must have the same name at each store (for example, "Caesar Salad Wrap").
If a store has no matching menu or items, the Collection is not created there. If a new item is added to an existing, multi-store Collection, the new item will be matched at corresponding stores automatically.
Troubleshooting: A Collection doesn't appear at one of my stores
The most common cause is a name mismatch between stores. DoorDash can only add an item to a Collection if it recognizes it as the same item at that store. Common causes include:
Spelling differences or typos (for example, "Caesar" vs. "Ceasar")
Differences in capitalization, punctuation, spacing, or special characters
Hidden characters that look identical on screen but are stored differently, often from copying and pasting names from other documents
A menu named differently at one store (for example, "Lunch" vs. "Dinner Menu")
An item or menu that is missing, inactive, or unavailable at that store
How to fix it
Compare names across stores. Open the store that is missing the Collection and compare its menu and item names with those at the store where you created the Collection.
Align the names. Update the menu and item names so they match exactly. If you suspect hidden characters, retype the name instead of pasting it.
Delete and recreate the Collection. Fanouts run when a Collection is created, so correcting names won't add the Collection to stores that were already skipped. Delete the Collection, then create it again
Tips to avoid this issue
Use one naming convention for menus and items across all stores.
Make menu and item name changes at all stores at the same time.
Before creating a Collection, spot-check a few stores to confirm names match.
Measure results
To see whether a Collection is driving sales, go to Insights in Merchant Portal and select Product Mix to view sales performance for your Collection items.
Frequently asked questions
How many Collections can be live at once? One. Set other active Collections to inactive or delete them to change which one is live.
How long can a Collection run? Up to 100 days.
Why is the spotlight section missing from my menu? If the Collection contains every item from one complete menu category, the spotlight section is hidden to avoid repeating the same items. The header chip still appears.
Why is an item missing from my Collection? The item may not have a photo, or it may be missing, inactive, or named differently at that store.
Still need help?
If you've aligned your names and recreated the Collection but it still doesn't appear at some stores, contact DoorDash Merchant Support and include the Collection name, menu name, and the affected stores.
