What is covered under the personal accident policy?

  • If you suffer an injury while making a delivery with DoorDash, you may be eligible for coverage.

  • Dashers do not need to sign up or enroll for personal accident insurance. There are no premiums, deductibles, or co-pays.

  • Personal accident insurance offers several protections for Dashers involved in covered accidents including:

    • Bodily Injury: Up to $600/week for a maximum of 52 weeks

    • Return to Work Assistance: Up to $10,000

    • Fractured Bones: Up to $2,000

    • Accidental Death - A lump sum payment to your dependents or heirs in the event of accidental death

Q: Am I covered under the personal accident policy?

A: Beginning 1 October, 2020, all Australian Dashers will automatically be eligible for personal accident insurance coverage (subject to the policy terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions).

Q: Do I have to sign up or enroll to be covered?

A: No enrollment is required. Dashers are free to obtain additional insurance coverage from another source as they see fit.

Q: Do I need to pay for this coverage?

A: No, there is no cost to Dashers.

Q: My bike or car was damaged in an accident, does personal accident insurance cover that?

A: No. Personal accident insurance does not cover damage to your bike or car. You may want to refer to your own personal automobile or home/renters insurance policy for coverage.

Q: Will this policy cover me if I'm not able to make deliveries?

A: Australian Dashers may be eligible for payments of up to $600 per week for injuries due to a covered accident, payable while you are unfit to continue duties as a Dasher.

Q: I was injured delivering with another competing service; will this policy cover that?

A: No. This policy only covers Australian Dashers while making a delivery with DoorDash and will conclude either 15 minutes after delivery drop off or once the Dasher has engaged a delivery task with another competing service, whichever comes first.
