Q: How do I get an ABN?
A: Applying for an ABN is free and easy! It will only take a few minutes.

Have your Tax File Number (TFN) ready so you can include it in your application and get your ABN immediately.

Click here to go to the application page and follow these simple steps:

1. Click on “Apply or reapply for an ABN”

2. In the “ABN entitlement” section fill out the form exactly like below.

3. In the “Application detail” section, fill out the form exactly like below

4. In the “Business information” section, fill out the form exactly as below

5. Next, fill in your name, date of birth, and your Tax File Number (TFN)

6. Then fill out the next page like below, leaving in the current date at the top

7. Enter in your address, phone number, and email

8. Enter in your phone number and email address again

9. In the “Reason for application” section, fill out the form exactly like below

10. In the last section, type in your name and “Individual/Sole Trader” as position held. Then add in today’s date and submit!

Congratulations, you have applied for an ABN!

If you included your Tax File Number, you should receive your ABN immediately. Otherwise, it might take some time before you receive it.

Q: How can I look up my existing ABN?
A: Do you have an ABN, but you don’t know it or have it on hand? You can look it up via the ABN Lookup tool below.

A valid ABN must meet these requirements

  1. ABN Type is for an Individual (Sole Trader)

  2. ABN is currently active (If your ABN has been cancelled or deactivated, contact the Australia Business Register for assistance)

Q: I entered an ABN but am encountering an error. What do I do now?
A: If you are getting the error message: “Enter a valid ABN issued to you”, please provide an ABN issued to you directly as an Individual/Sole Trader.

If you are getting the error message: “An account with this ABN already exists”, please check to see if you have another account with DoorDash using this ABN.
