Delivering Pharmacy Guidelines - Dasher (AUS)
Delivering Pharmacy Guidelines
This article only applies for AU Dashers.
DoorDash is committed to the safe and compliant delivery of medicine. The following information is to help guide you when you receive orders containing medicine. Your safety, along with the safety of all our Customers and Merchants, is a priority. Please note, you could be held liable if you deliver medicine in an unlawful way, so it is important that you make sure medicine items are delivered responsibly and in line with the guidelines and prompts provided to you by DoorDash before and during a delivery of medicine.
Recognising Medicine Orders:
When you receive an order, the acceptance screen should let you know whether an order contains medicine.

Key considerations:
Leaving medicine unattended: In some instances, medicines can be left unattended. Dashers are instructed to follow the delivery instructions provided in the app to ensure a safe and compliant delivery.
Customer verification: In some instances, verifying a customer's age or identity may be necessary. Dashers are responsible for confirming the recipient's identification or collecting a signature according to the provided instructions in your Dasher app. In instances where a delivery cannot be completed, such as due to an unavailable recipient or unsuccessful verification, you must promptly follow the procedures outlined in the app for returning items to the pharmacy.
Return Deliveries: If you are unable to complete a medicine delivery to the customer and a return is instructed via the app, the medication should be promptly returned to the pharmacy from which it was originally collected. If a return delivery becomes necessary, you will receive payment for both the delivery and the return, and your rating will remain unaffected. If you have any issues with completing the return, please contact Support immediately.
Undeliverable medications: Undeliverable medications should always be returned and should never be kept or discarded.
When scanning the recipient’s ID:
Make sure that the ID a is valid Government-issued ID (see below for accepted forms of ID)
Check the Date of Birth on the ID to make sure that the recipient is over 18 years old
Check the ID’s expiration date. Do not accept an ID that is expired
Place the ID in the palm of your hand when scanning and avoid scanning an ID against a dark background (particularly Victorian IDs due to the transparent strip).
Make sure the Date of Birth and Expiry Date is visible and readable during the scan
Acceptable forms of identification:
All IDs must be presented in their original form (i.e., no photocopies or photos of IDs should be accepted). Only the following IDs should be accepted when delivering medicine in Australia:
Australian State or Territory driver's license
Australian State or Territory learner's permit
Australian or foreign passport
Proof of age card
If the customer cannot produce a valid form of ID (i.e any of the IDs listed above), do not complete delivery and contact support. Your rating will not be affected and you will still receive full payment for the delivery, as well as payment for returning the medicine.
