I received a “password reset required” email from DoorDash

3 min read

If you received an email from DoorDash saying you need to reset your password, follow the steps below to secure your account and get back to ordering. Once you’ve reset your password, we also recommend setting up a passkey for a faster, safer way to sign in.

Reset your password

  1. Tap or click the Reset your password button in the email. Or, for extra security, open the DoorDash app or doordash.com, select Sign in, and then select Reset password.

  2. Enter a new password that you haven’t used before. You won’t be able to reuse an old password.

Your new password should be:

  • Unique to DoorDash and not used for other websites or apps

  • At least 8 characters long

  • A combination of letters, numbers, and symbols, using both upper and lower-case letters

  • Not easily guessed – such as “password,” “12345,” or your personal information (name, birthday, address)

A password manager can make it easier to keep track of unique passwords.

If you used your old DoorDash password on other websites or apps, we recommend creating unique passwords for those too.

Set up a passkey (iOS)

A passkey lets you sign in using the fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN you already use to unlock your device, without entering your DoorDash password. To create one:

  1. Open the DoorDash app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap Profile, then tap Settings.

  3. Tap Manage Account.

  4. Tap Set up passkey.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and confirm using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN.

Note: Passkeys are currently available in the DoorDash iOS Consumer app only.

Do I still need my password?

Yes. Creating a passkey does not remove or replace your existing sign-in methods. You can still sign in with your phone number and one-time passcode, a social account, or your DoorDash password.

Why did DoorDash ask me to reset my password?

We may ask you to reset your password due to:

  • Data breaches at other companies

  • Phishing

  • Suspicious account activity

  • Malware attacks

This is a precautionary step. We have no indication that your DoorDash account has been accessed without your permission.

Troubleshooting

  • If you don’t see the option to create a passkey, make sure your DoorDash app is updated to the latest version.

  • If Face ID or Touch ID isn’t working, check that it’s enabled in your device settings.

  • Check your internet connection

  • Force close and relaunch the app

  • Restart your phone

  • Log out and log in again

  • Delete and reinstall the app

How to spot a genuine DoorDash email

DoorDash will never ask you to share your password or one-time passcode by email, text, or phone. If you’re unsure whether an email is from us, don’t click the link – open the DoorDash app or go to doordash.com directly instead.
