Marketing Reconciliation Updates in Merchant Portal & Business Manager App

10 min read

What's been updated?

Several financial and marketing reports in the Merchant Portal now include new and updated columns to improve marketing reconciliation. These changes affect downloadable CSVs in Report Builder, including:

  • Transactions Breakdown

  • Transactions Overview

  • Payouts

You can now see an aggregated marketing spend summary across the Campaigns, Transactions, Payouts, and Statements pages in the Merchant Portal, Business Manager app, and Ads Manager. This summary separates:

  • Marketing spend paid by your store (fees and discounts), and

  • Marketing investment funded by DoorDash or third parties

New and renamed columns were also added to the Reporting API Payout Summary and Transaction Details reports to align with the Merchant Portal.

Within the Merchant Portal and Business Manager app:

  • Transactions: Marketing columns appear at the bottom of the Transactions page, and marketing spend is separated from Merchant Fees

  • Payouts: The former DoorDash services column is now split into Commission & fees and Marketing spend

  • Statements: DoorDash services are also split into Commission & fees and Marketing spend

Some existing columns were renamed and labeled "for historical reference only." These columns remain available for older data, but the new columns should be used for reconciliation going forward.

Additional columns were also added for merchants who use DoorDash Online Ordering, Self-Delivery, or have bag or cup fees applied to their stores.

What new marketing ads and promotion columns were added in Report Builder?

New marketing ads and promotion columns were added to Report Builder to help merchants separate customer discounts from marketing fees and credits when reconciling financial reports. These columns are available primarily in the Transactions Breakdown report and related financial and marketing reports.

Important:

  • New columns populate data only for dates on or after March 11, 2025.

  • For earlier dates, these fields may appear as 0 or null.

  • If you ran Sponsored Listings using a free trial, marketing fees and credits from those trials may not appear in the new columns until after April 11, 2025.

These columns were added for stores operating in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The tables below list the new marketing columns by report type and information category.

Which columns were renamed?

Some columns in the Financial reports were renamed and labeled "for historical reference only." These columns will continue to populate data, but they're not recommended for reconciliation going forward.

The renamed columns remain in the same position within the reports and are retained to support reconciliation for historical date ranges. For current and future reconciliation, use the newly added columns outlined elsewhere in this article.

The table below shows which columns were renamed across the Financial reports.

What are the best columns to use?

For reconciliation, use the new marketing ads and promotions columns rather than columns labeled "for historical reference only."

  • For reports pulled with dates on or after April 11, 2025, the new columns should be used for reconciliation.

  • Columns marked "for historical reference only" are retained to support reporting for earlier date ranges and shouldn't be used for current reconciliation.

If you ran Sponsored Listings using a free trial, marketing fees and credits from those trials may not appear in the new columns until after April 11, 2025.

Are there changes to the Sales Report?

Yes. If you select View data by time or View data by store in the Sales Report, ads- and promotions-related columns were renamed and labeled "for historical reference only."

When did these marketing reconciliation changes take effect?

These changes took effect in April 2025 across the Merchant Portal, Business Manager app, and Ads Manager.

Why did DoorDash make these marketing reconciliation changes?

DoorDash made these updates to improve financial reporting and reconciliation by:

  • Providing clearer visibility into marketing spend

  • Increasing the level of detail in the data provided across fees and discounts

  • Standardizing reporting across tools and platforms

How do these updates affect financial reporting and reconciliation?

These updates may affect how you currently reconcile financial reports because:

  • New columns were added

  • Existing columns were renamed

  • Downloadable CSV formats changed

If you use formulas, automations, or external platforms to reconcile reports, you may need to update them to reflect the new column names and structure.

How do these changes affect merchants using Reporting API integrations?

If you use Reporting API tools to reconcile financial data, you should ensure your integration references the updated column names and report versions.

Updated API terminology is available for:

A new report version was introduced to support these changes. Previous versions remain available for backwards compatibility.

To access the new columns, specify the updated report_version in your API request. If no version is specified, version 1 is returned by default.

   "end_date": "2025-03-10",

   "report_type":"PAYOUT_SUMMARY",

   "report_version": 3

}

How do I download CSV financial reports from the Merchant Portal?

To download CSV financial reports:

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal

  2. Select Reports from the left-side menu

  3. Select Create report

  4. Choose the report type and date range

  5. Download the CSV file

How do these updates affect merchants using third-party platforms or integrated partners?

If you use an integrated partner or third-party platform to reconcile reports, you may need to notify them about these changes.

Because the downloadable CSV templates changed, confirm that any automated systems your partners use are updated to accommodate the new columns and renamed fields.

What should I do if I use automated reconciliation tools?

If you use automated reconciliation solutions, you may need to update your automations to reflect:

  • Updated column names

  • Newly added columns

  • Deprecated historical columns

What are co-funded promotions?

Co-funded promotions are promotions where DoorDash contributes additional marketing spend on top of a merchant-funded promotion at no additional cost to the merchant.

When eligible, DoorDash automatically boosts an active promotion by increasing the discount offered to customers.

Why might co-funded promotions not be available to my store?

Co-funded (boosted) promotions are currently offered by DoorDash during select seasonal events and campaigns.

At this time, boosted promotions are only available to US merchants, and eligibility depends on campaign criteria.

Will DoorDash integrate these financial reports with POS systems or receipts?

DoorDash doesn't currently integrate these financial reports with POS systems, tablets, or printer receipts.

DoorDash continues to evaluate additional ways to improve financial reporting and reconciliation.

Why might I see a marketing fee or credit in a free delivery promotion?

Free delivery promotions use a flat delivery fee for pricing stability, even though actual delivery costs may vary by order.

  • If average delivery costs are lower than the flat fee, the difference appears as a marketing fee

  • If average delivery costs are higher, DoorDash may cover the difference as a marketing credit

In both cases, your total marketing spend remains aligned with the quoted flat price for the promotion.

How do I access the new marketing data in the Reporting API?

All new marketing columns were added to the Reporting API:

Columns were also renamed and standardized to align with the Merchant Portal.

To access the updated columns, specify the appropriate report version in your API request.

What changes apply to merchants operating in Canada?

Merchants operating in Canada will see a new tax column added to financial reports:

  • Customer Fee Tax Remitted by DoorDash to Tax Authorities

This column appears to the left of the new marketing ads and promotions columns.

What changes apply to merchants operating in Australia and New Zealand?

Merchants operating in Australia or New Zealand will no longer see the "GST included in Subtotal" column in downloadable Financial CSV reports.

This change reflects updated tax policies in these regions.

Why doesn't the Order Sidesheet show DoorDash-funded discounts?

The Order Sidesheet is designed to show costs your store is responsible for, not total marketing spend or customer payments.

DoorDash-funded discounts, credits, and ad fees are not shown in the Order Sidesheet. To view full marketing details, use:

  • Transactions detailed tables

  • Payouts detailed tables

  • Downloadable financial reports

Should I use columns labeled "for historical reference only" for reconciliation?

  • For reports with dates on or after March 11, 2025, use the new marketing ads and promotions columns

  • For reports with dates before March 11, 2025, use the columns labeled "for historical reference only"

New columns populate data only after March 11, 2025 and may appear as null for earlier dates.

Why might I see multiple rows for the same order or transaction ID?

For reports pulled between April 2 and May 5, 2025, you may see multiple rows associated with a single Transaction ID.

Use the row with the most recent timestamp for reconciliation. Earlier rows offset each other and do not affect totals.

Why might merchant fees in payouts differ from financial reports?

Differences between payout totals and financial reports may occur due to:

  • Timing differences

  • Adjustments applied after payout creation

  • Merchant-specific fees not itemized in summary views

If discrepancies persist, contact Merchant Support for assistance.
