How to Create and Manage Sponsored Listings

3 min read

Sponsored Listings are ads that help more customers discover your business on DoorDash. You only pay when your ad leads to an order.

How do Sponsored Listings work?

Sponsored Listings help your business stand out to customers as they decide where to order. Your ads can appear on the DoorDash homepage and at the top of relevant search results.

You can choose which customers you want to reach, including new, existing, or lapsed customers.

How do I create a Sponsored Listings campaign?

You can create a Sponsored Listings campaign in the Merchant Portal. Your campaign settings are on one page, with a preview of your ad and estimated sales and costs.

1. Log in to the Merchant Portal

Select Marketing > Run a campaign. In the Advertise to customers tile, select Create ad.

2. Choose your stores and audience

Select the stores where you want to run your campaign, then choose which customers you want to reach:

  • All customers: Reach customers within your business's delivery radius.

  • New customers: Reach customers who have never ordered from your business.

  • Existing customers: Reach customers who have ordered from your business within the last six months.

  • Lapsed customers: Reach customers who haven't ordered from your business in six months or longer.

3. Set your duration and schedule

Choose how long your campaign runs and when your ad can appear.

  • Duration: Select Keep it going to run your campaign until you pause or end it, or Set end date to choose when your campaign ends.

  • Scheduling: Select Continuous to run your ad throughout your store's open days and hours.

4. Set your average weekly budget

Choose how much you want to spend on average each week across the stores included in your campaign.

Your recommended budget is based on your sales and data from businesses like yours. As you adjust your budget, you'll see estimated weekly costs, sales, and return on ad spend.

5. Choose your bid strategy

Your bid is the maximum amount you're willing to pay per order.

  • Automatic bidding: DoorDash automatically adjusts your bid to help keep it competitive.

  • Custom bidding: Set the maximum amount you're willing to pay per order.

6. Review Expanded Ad Reach

Expanded Ad Reach allows your ad to appear on partner platforms like Facebook and Instagram, using the same campaign budget and with no additional setup.

Choose whether to enable Expanded Ad Reach for your campaign.

7. Name your campaign and apply credits

Enter a campaign name to help you identify it.

If you have eligible Marketing Credits, you can apply them in the Credits section. You can also view your available credits and related details in your Marketing Wallet under Marketing in the Merchant Portal. For more information, see How DoorDash Marketing Credits Work.

Review your campaign details, then select Create campaign.

How much do Sponsored Listings cost?

You set an average weekly budget when creating your campaign. As you adjust your budget, you'll see estimated weekly costs, sales, and return on ad spend.

You only pay when a customer places an order through your ad, not for clicks or impressions.

For merchants on the Premier pricing plan, DoorDash automatically runs a free Sponsored Listing as an included plan benefit. Learn more about Premier plan benefits.
