Overview of Promotions
Promotions on DoorDash Ads

Promotions are offers that encourage customers to place an order by reducing cost or incentivizing the offer. Depending on the promotion type, customers may see promotions as item-level badges or store-level offers in the DoorDash app. You only pay for promotions when an order is placed.
Promotions prominently feature your business to your target audience on the Homepage, in carousels, and in the Offers tab of the DoorDash app.
Types of Promotions available
Promotions can be structured in several ways depending on your business goals. You can incentivize new, existing, and/or lapsed customers to order from your store using:
Subtotal discounts — reduce the order total when a customer spends a minimum amount
Spend $X, Get Y
Try With Discount
Happy Hour (managed service)
Store Rewards (managed service)
Discount on delivery — lower or eliminate the delivery fee to reduce friction at checkout
Try Me Free
DoorDash Deals
Free or discounted items — offer a specific item for free or at a reduced price to drive trial or increase basket size
Buy One Get One (BOGO)
Discounted Item
Free Item
Happy Hour Item Promotion
Lunch Special Item Promotion
These formats allow you to tailor incentives based on order size, product strategy, or customer segment.

When to use Promotions

Promotions can help increase orders during lower-performing dayparts, reach new customers, re-engage lapsed customers, increase average order value with spend-based offers, or support seasonal and limited-time campaigns.
Promotions can work alongside Sponsored Listings as part of a broader DoorDash Ads strategy. Sponsored Listings can help increase visibility, while Promotions give customers an added reason to convert.
