What are Dasher Shop & Deliver orders?
DoorDash is all about empowering local commerce. With Shop & Deliver, customers can now order from grocery, retail and convenience stores, with thousands of new options delivered right to their door.
With Shop & Deliver orders, Dashers go in-store and shop for the customer’s items before they make their delivery.
Why should I do Dasher Shop & Deliver orders?

How can I start receiving Shop & Deliver orders?
Once you complete 10 restaurant deliveries, you will see a pop-up in your Dasher app to unlock Shop & Deliver orders by adding a Red Card to your digital wallet. A Red Card will be your digital form of payment when completing Shop & Deliver orders, and will be loaded with the exact amount required for each order.
If you’d like to add the Red Card later, on your Dasher app go to Account > Dasher Red Card > Add to Digital Wallet.
How do you do Shop & Deliver orders?
Complete the Shop & Deliver activation steps
Shop for the items at the store
Pay for the order with your new Red Card (don’t worry, the Red Card is funded by DoorDash)
Then deliver the order. Easy!

Here's some simple tips to follow to ensure you always shop like a star, keep customers happy and your ratings high!
Entering Store & Picking Items
Some merchants will require you to scan a member barcode to enter the store which will appear in the Dasher app when you accept the offer. Pick the best items available, and avoid spoiled items or items with broken/ damaged packaging. Bonus tip: Find items with the latest expiration date!
Bagging Items
To avoid items getting damaged in transit to the customer, place the heaviest items at the bottom and properly secure spillable items. Perishable items like eggs and bread damage easily, so pay special attention to these delicate items. For hot and frozen items, ensure you load them into your insulated bag in your vehicle.
Checking Out
The Dasher app will assist you on how to proceed when you reach the check out. Some merchants will require you to scan a member barcode from the Dasher app when checking out. You will then be required to pay for the items with your Virtual Red Card.
Drop Off
Ensure the order is placed in a safe place, for example not exposed to weather conditions, placed on stable grounds and not in front of an outward opening door or visible trip hazard area. Contact the Customer via the Dasher app to confirm your arrival and drop off.

A:
Yes! You will need a Red Card for all Shop & Deliver Orders.

What if the store doesn’t have an item?
A:
Follow these steps if an item is unavailable at the store:
If you’re unable to find an item, check with store staff. If the item is definitely out of stock, tap ‘Item unavailable’
After pressing ‘item unavailable’, follow the prompts in the app, as the Customer may have pre-approved substitutions for you to pick instead!
Let the Customer know if their chosen item is out of stock, particularly if they haven’t pre-selected a substitution.
If no substitutions are available, follow the in-app prompts to marked items unavailable and the Customer will be automatically refunded. Proceed with your order as you would normally.
Q:
How will I be compensated for these types of deliveries?
A:
The pay amount for these orders will be shown on the acceptance screen. The acceptance screen will also specify that the offer is for a Shop & Deliver order.
Q:
Will the store’s staff do the shopping for me?
A:
No, the staff will not do the shopping. If you have done a thorough search of the item and are still unable to find it, you can ask store staff for help. They may be able to direct you to where the item is located in the store.

Item pictures in the Dasher App give a feel for what the product looks like. You can tap on the picture to enlarge it, using two fingers to zoom in further.
Check to see if aisle information is available for the item.
The item description confirms the flavour and the exact size of the item.
If prompted, weighing the item and entering the weight to confirm that they have the right quantity.

Can I use my own loyalty cards for Shop & Deliver orders?
A:
Dashers are not permitted to scan personal or customers' loyalty card, such as Everyday Rewards or Costco membership cards, during a Shop & Deliver order. Doing so may result in having your eligibility for Shop & Deliver orders revoked, and the revocation of loyalty cardpoints.

Do I have to go to the store directed by the app to do the Shop & Deliver order, or can I go to a different one closer to me/the customer?
A:
Yes, you must go to the store directed by the app.
Not all stores are part of the Shop & Deliver program with DoorDash.
Different stores can stock different products, so some items the customer has ordered may not be available. You can notify them of this via the App
You must also be in the correct location to be able to mark ‘Arrived at Store’.
Importantly, your Red Card will only work at the store you are being directed to.
