Starting on July 1, 2025, Jersey City regulations require all Dashers using a bike and e-bike to take a safety course once they have completed five deliveries.

Dashers will have to complete the course with a 75% passing score within 30 days of receiving training by email or in-app notification. Dashers who do not complete this training within the deadline will be unable to continue dashing in Jersey City. Once a Dasher has passed the course, they will be able to resume dashing in Jersey City.

Q: Why am I receiving this course?

A: Jersey City requires that all bike and e-bike Dashers complete its safety course once they have completed five or more deliveries to, from, or in Jersey City, in a calendar quarter. You’ve completed at least five deliveries in Jersey City.

Q: What if I have not received the training course yet?

A: A link for the course will be sent in an email titled “Action required: Complete your required safety training”  to the email tied to your Dasher account, sent from [email protected]

You can also find a link to the course in the Dasher app under the notifications section once you’ve completed five or more deliveries.

Q: Who is required to complete the training?

A: Dashers who completed five or more deliveries using a bike and e-bike in Jersey City during the previous calendar quarter are required to complete the training, per new local regulations. 

Q: Is there a passing rate for the course?

A: Yes, you must complete the course with a 75% passing score.

Q: Is there a limit on the number of attempts to pass the course?

A: No, there are unlimited attempts to complete and pass the course.

Q: What if I need more time to complete the course?

A: You will have 30 days from when the course is sent to complete it. If you do not complete the course within the 30-day deadline, you will be unable to continue dashing in Jersey City until you take and pass the course.

Q: How do I know if I completed the course?

A: You will receive a completion certificate via email to the email address associated with your Dasher account.

You will need to hold onto your course completion certificate (either a hard or digital copy), as a Jersey City official can request to see it in order to verify you’ve completed the required course.

Q: Why do I have to verify that I have the required bike safety equipment?

A:Once you have completed the safety course, Jersey City law requires you to verify that you have the required bike safety equipment annually. This includes:

  • A bicycle helmet in good condition

  • A lamp or other similarly suitable light 

  • A bell or other device audible from 100+ feet (no sirens or whistles allowed) 

  • Working brakes

  • Reflective tires or, alternately, a reflex reflector mounted on the spokes of each wheel.
