What is a Dasher Red Card?

The Red Card is a prepaid card that Dashers use to pay for items on Dasher Shop & Deliver offers. The card will automatically be funded when you go to check out for a shopping offer. Red Cards are not linked to Dasher bank accounts or related to earnings.

Red Cards can be:

  • Digital - stored in the digital wallet on your phone (recommended).

  • Physical - a physical card ordered from the DoorDash store.

Why do I need a Red Card?

DoorDash Shop & Deliver offers can only be completed with a Red Card. Dashers with Red Cards can accept these offers and take advantage of every earning opportunity. Most merchants accept contactless payments, so you will likely be able to check out with a digital card. If you are checking out at a merchant that does not accept contactless payments, you can use your physical Red Card if you have one. If you do not have a physical Red Card, you have the option to use your personal card, keep the receipt, and reach out to support for reimbursement.

How do I get a digital Red Card?

It’s simple—it just takes a minute from your Dasher app.

For iOS

  1. Go to the Account tab of your Dasher app.

  2. Tap Dasher Red Card.

  3. Tap Add to Apple Wallet to get your card.

  4. If prompted to choose a device, select your phone name.

  5. Card information will automatically populate.

  6. Accept the Apple Wallet Terms & Conditions.

  7. Once successfully added, your "Dasher Red Card" tab should show "Active in Apple Wallet".

For Android

1. You will need to have the Google Wallet app installed. Note that currently, Red Card only works on Google Pay and not Samsung Pay.

2. Add a digital Red Card to your Dasher app:

  • In the Dasher app, open the 3-dot Menu icon.

  • Tap Red Card.

  • Tap Add to G Pay.

3. Add the digital Red Card to Google Wallet:

  • Tap Add to Wallet.

  • Wait for the card information to automatically fill in.

  • If prompted for an address, input your address to proceed.

  • Accept the Google Wallet Terms & Conditions.

4. Once successfully added, your Red Card tab should show "Added to Google Pay."

How do I get and activate a physical Red Card?

We recommend getting a digital card as it’s easy to download, available instantly, and it’s on your phone, so you won't forget it when Dashing. If your phone is not NFC-enabled, or you would prefer a physical one, order a Red Card to ship to you for free from the DoorDash Store. Once received, complete the following steps to activate your physical Red Card:

  1. Follow the steps above in the “How do I get a digital Red Card?” section to get to the “Red Card” page in your Dasher app.

  2. Tap Activate a physical card to activate.

  3. If you have any errors, be sure to update your Dasher app to the latest version, and then close your app and reopen it.

  4. Once you activate your physical card, you can follow the Digital Red Card steps above to add this same card to your phone wallet. This will allow you to check out with either your physical or digital card.

How do I use a digital Red Card?

For iOS

iPhones with Face ID

  1. Open Apple Pay by double-clicking the side Power button.

  2. Select and tap the Red Card.

  3. Authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode.

  4. Hold the top of your iPhone near the card reader until you see "Done" or a checkmark on the screen.

iPhones with Touch ID

  1. Open Apple Pay by double-clicking the Home button.

  2. Select and tap the Red Card.

  3. Rest your finger on Touch ID.

  4. Hold the top of your iPhone near the card reader until you see "Done" or a checkmark on the screen.

For AndroidTap-to-pay with your phone

  1. Open the Google Wallet app.

  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Account > Payment setup.

  3. To make contactless payments, make sure to meet these requirements:

Pay in a store

  1. Wake up & unlock your phone.

  2. You don't need to open the Google Wallet app.

    • For users with a Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro, Face Unlock is currently not supported for tap-to-pay transactions.

    • To use tap-to-pay on Pixel Fold or another foldable device, fold your device.

  3. Hold the back of your phone to the payment reader.

  4. You need to verify the transaction with one of the supported Android screen lock methods.

  5. If the payment is successful, a blue checkmark will appear on the screen.

If the checkmark isn’t on your screen:

  • Try to hold your phone in a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or bottom of your device.

  • Hold your phone closer to the payment reader.

  • Hold your phone to the payment reader for a few extra seconds.

I am having trouble setting up my Red Card. How can I get help?

Some common errors and troubleshooting steps are listed below.

If these do not work, please try these steps for troubleshooting the Dasher app. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact Dasher Support.

I’m not seeing the option to add to a digital wallet.

Please check that you have a digital wallet app installed on your phone (Wallet App or Google Wallet), and make sure you have enabled it for payment. Also, make sure that your Dasher app is updated to the latest version. Once you update, exit the app and restart.

Open your Apple Wallet or Google Pay to check that there is no Red Card in there. If there is, remove it and try the steps in the app again.

This card can’t be set up to tap-to-pay.

Cannot Add Cards: The region setting for this device cannot be used with Apple Pay.

Make sure you are using the latest version of iOS.

Ensure the region of your Apple ID account is your current location - See Apple Support Change your Apple ID country or region for instructions.

Check the region on your device to ensure it is correct (Settings > General > Language & Region - set to your region).

Sign out of your Apple ID and back in.

Ensure your device is compatible with Apple Pay.
