DoorDash for CityHive Merchants

7 min read

Overview

The DoorDash integration for CityHive connects your CityHive account directly to DoorDash Marketplace, so local customers can discover your store and order alcohol and other eligible items for same-day delivery. Depending on whether you already use CityHive, you'll either enable a DoorDash add-on from your existing CityHive account, or be walked through CityHive setup by a DoorDash Implementation Associate as part of getting connected. Once enabled, your CityHive account remains the source of truth for your catalog and inventory feed to DoorDash.

Before You Begin

Eligibility & Determining Your Path

How you connect depends on your current relationship with CityHive:

  • Existing CityHive Merchant — you already have a CityHive account. You'll enable the DoorDash add-on directly from your account.

  • New to CityHive — you don't yet have a CityHive account. A DoorDash Implementation Associate will get you set up with CityHive first, with the exact process depending on whether your existing POS is cloud-based or not.

IMPORTANT

When selecting your store type in the DoorDash Merchant Portal, ensure you select Liquor Store (may also appear as Alcohol) — this determines your commission package and setup on DoorDash's side.

Integration Activation Code

Linking the DoorDash add-on in CityHive requires an activation code. Your DoorDash Implementation Associate will provide it — you'll need it in Connect Your CityHive Store to DoorDash section.

Connect Your CityHive Store to DoorDash

There are two paths to enabling the integration, depending on whether you already have a CityHive account.

Path A — Existing CityHive Account (Enable the DoorDash Add-on)

  1. Log in to your CityHive account. From Settings, go to Add-Ons & Plugins.

  2. Choose the DoorDash Feed Integration add-on.

  3. Click Activate.

  4. When prompted for the DoorDash <> CityHive integration password, enter the activation code provided by your DoorDash Implementation Associate.

  5. Once the code is accepted, CityHive returns a Continue to DoorDash button — click it.

  6. This routes you into the DoorDash account setup flow — either the DoorDash signup process (net-new) or your Merchant Portal (existing contract).

Don't Skip This

After completing Complete Setup in the DoorDash Merchant Portal, you must return to your CityHive Portal to create the inventory feed. Missing this step will cause a blocked POS Case.

Path B — New to CityHive

If you don't yet have a CityHive account, a DoorDash Implementation Associate will fill out the CityHive <> DoorDash Integration form with you by phone, booking a session for a time you'll be available at your store computer. What happens next depends on your current POS:

If your POS is not cloud-based (the majority of POS systems)

  1. At the scheduled session time, CityHive emails you (your Implementation Associate is CC'd) to request your TeamViewer credentials.

  2. CityHive remotely logs in to your system and sets up an export program to retrieve your inventory hourly.

  3. CityHive has you enable the DoorDash add-on (Path A, above) and helps you complete it.

If your POS is cloud-based

The booked session is disregarded — instead, CityHive reaches out the same day with instructions. Depending on your POS, CityHive will:

  • Request your admin username, password, and host URL, and complete the remaining setup steps themselves; or

  • Invite you to your own CityHive account and provide instructions for syncing your inventory via your POS system within the dashboard; or

  • Loop in your POS system's integration team to help complete the integration.

Once the CityHive integration is complete, CityHive has you enable the DoorDash add-on (Path A, above) and follow the appropriate account setup steps.

Supported Cloud POS Systems

CityHive maintains the current list of POS systems it integrates with in the cloud on its own site, at cityhive.net/retailers/pos-integration. Check there to confirm your POS is supported.

Complete Setup in the DoorDash Merchant Portal

After clicking Continue to DoorDash in Connect Your CityHive Store to DoorDash, you'll land in one of two flows depending on whether you already have a signed DoorDash contract.

New Merchants — DoorDash Account Setup

Use this path if you don't have a signed DoorDash contract yet. From this point on, you'll handle your onboarding within the DoorDash environment, including signing your contract and tracking progress.

  1. You'll be directed to the DoorDash account signup page. Enter your basic store information, then click Create Account.

  2. Select your store type. Important: select Liquor Store (may also appear as Alcohol) to ensure the correct commission package and setup.

  3. Enter your store hours — the same for every day, or set independently. These can be updated any time in your Merchant Portal.

  4. Choose a commission package: Basic, Plus, or Premium.

  5. Enter your banking and legal tax information, then select Finish Setup to complete your DoorDash account setup.

  6. Track your progress on the Activation Tracker in your Merchant Portal. Once all integration and onboarding steps are complete, you decide when to activate your DoorDash Marketplace store and start receiving orders.

Existing Merchants — Store Matching

Use this path if you already have a signed DoorDash contract and store ID. From this point on, you'll handle onboarding within the DoorDash environment, including tracking your progress.

  1. Log in to your Merchant Portal at the login screen.

  2. Select which DoorDash store you intend to integrate. This creates an automatic match to the partner store included in the onboarding request, so integration steps begin immediately upon submission.

  3. You'll be redirected to the home page of your Merchant Portal, where you can view real-time tracking of your integration status. There is no downtime to your current operations while the integration is configured — once every step is complete, you're activated on the integration immediately.

REMINDER

Whichever path you follow, don't forget to return to your CityHive Portal afterward to create the inventory feed — see Managing Inventory (Data Feeds).

Managing Inventory (Data Feeds)

Your DoorDash catalog is delivered through a data feed configured in your CityHive Portal. This step is required after enabling the DoorDash add-on — skipping it will cause a blocked POS Case.

  1. In your CityHive Portal, go to the Add-Ons & Plugins section and scroll to the top.

  2. Click Data Feeds.

  3. Click the + button in the top-right corner to create a new feed.

  4. In the Feed Type dropdown, select Doordash.

  5. Check Mark as Enabled.

  6. Click Create.

Feed Type

Price Adjustments

When configuring the feed, CityHive lets you set a price adjustment (fixed amount or percentage) applied on top of your normal pricing for DoorDash, with additional options to round values, include sale pricing, and show or hide items on the feed.
