DoorDash Fuel Relief for Dashers

2 min read

Overview

To continue helping Dashers recover the increased costs of fuel caused by conflict in the Middle East, DoorDash is adding an additional amount to base pay for each offer when fuel costs are abnormally high.

Adjustments continue while prices remain above baseline and the relevant Fair Work Commission order is active. More information about how overall pay is calculated can be found on this page.

How It Works

DoorDash will review fuel prices on a fortnightly basis and will adjust base delivery pay accordingly to ensure you recover any increased costs of fuel if it has increased above the baseline for that period.

This means:

  • Every fortnight, we'll assess the state capital average fuel price. This will be a state based average rather than an exact per km cost for an individual vehicle.

  • We will calculate estimated fuel costs based on estimated average fuel consumption. If fuel costs have risen above the baseline from 6 March 2026, your base delivery pay will be adjusted to reflect the difference.

  • If the average price of fuel for that fortnight is below the baseline, there will be no adjustment for fuel during that pay period.

This approach will comply with a recent order from the Fair Work Commission (the Road Transport Contractual Chain Order – Fuel Cost Recovery – 2026) and will continue for as long as fuel prices remain elevated above that baseline and the Order remains in place.

We have updated the Dasher Pay Model page with information about how this program works. Note: the updated pay model constitutes a modification to the terms of the independent contractor agreement between you and DoorDash, pursuant to clauses 7 and 18 of the agreement.

We will keep you informed of any adjustments and what they mean for your pay.
