Can I add alcohol products to my DoorDash menu?
For Merchants to sell and deliver their alcohol products through DoorDash, Merchants must meet the following requirements:
Reside in an Unlocked province
Check your province’s eligibility. Alcohol delivery via DoorDash Marketplace is currently available only in the Canadian provinces listed below:
Ontario
Quebec*
British Columbia
Alberta
Saskatchewan
New Brunswick
Manitoba
Agree to the applicable terms and conditions with DoorDash, which includes an alcohol addendum
* DoorDash Marketplace can deliver wine, cider, and beer, but not cocktails or spirits.
The scope of delivery options varies by jurisdiction. All retailers are encouraged to consult their retail permit and local laws to confirm whether off-premises delivery is permitted and, if so, for what types of beverages and under what conditions.
The Alcohol flow in the Merchant Portal will verify whether you are eligible to add alcohol products to your menu. If you are interested in adding alcohol to your DoorDash menu, please:
Access Merchant Portal
Navigate to Account Settings
Once on the Account settings page, navigate to ‘Menu Settings’ to view the option to Add Alcohol
Select ‘Add’ to enter the sign-up flow
How do I sign up to sell alcohol on DoorDash?
If you are already signed up with DoorDash and all of your locations are located in a province where DoorDash can facilitate alcohol delivery, you can sign up for alcohol through the self-serve flow in the Merchant Portal! This will ensure you meet the following requirements:
Your stores are in an unlocked province
You sign the alcohol addendum
Note: failure to do so can prevent you from receiving orders and receiving payouts
Your request will be reviewed and verified within 1-2 business days, before you will be permitted to add alcohol to your menu.
How do I mark an item as having alcohol on DoorDash?
If you have signed an alcohol addendum and have access to the self-serve menu editor, when you add or edit an item, you will select a checkbox, “this item contains alcohol.”
You can also file a menu update request. Our menu team will identify the alcohol items for you when they review your menu update request.
Why can’t I add alcohol to my DoorDash menu?
Currently, DoorDash can only facilitate alcohol delivery in approved provinces. Check your province’s eligibility.
What if some, and not all, of my locations are in alcohol-approved provinces?
Please request a menu update, and our team will help set up different menus for your locations. You will only be able to add alcohol to your locations in areas where DoorDash can facilitate alcohol delivery.
How does DoorDash verify that the customer is of legal drinking age?
In addition to requiring the customer to affirm being of legal drinking age prior to checkout, the DoorDash Dasher App uses an ID scanner that allows the Dasher to verify the legal age of the recipient upon delivery. If an ID scan fails our validation protocol (e.g., underage, expired, etc.), the Dasher App specifies that the Dasher should NOT hand over any alcoholic beverages and should return the items to the store.
