How to Create Smart Campaigns in the Merchant Portal
What are smart campaigns?
Smart Campaigns are an automated promotion type in the Merchant Portal that manages targeting, discounts, and limits for you. Once enabled, Smart Campaigns automatically adjust offer details and eligibility so you don't need to manually manage individual promotions.
How do I create a smart campaign in the Merchant Portal?

Log into the Merchant Portal
Tap Marketing
Select Run a Campaign
Choose Smart campaign
Customize your campaign details under Settings:
Stores: Select which locations to include
Campaign length (at least 30 days is recommended):
Keep it going: Runs until paused or canceled
Choose end date: Campaign ends on the selected date
Scheduling: Run all day or during specific store hours
Average weekly budget:
No cap, or
Set a weekly average limit
Promotion items:
Use items selected by DoorDash, or
Exclude items from BOGO eligibility
Minimum of five eligible items is required
Campaign name: Enter a name for your campaign
Tap Create campaign
Your campaign will go live immediately.
How do I view Smart Campaign preformance?

Log into the Merchant Portal
Navigate to Marketing
Select Campaigns
Click on the campaign you wish to view and you can see high-level performance data
How can I download a marketing report?

In this report, you can see: return on ad spend (ROAS), customers reached, order value, advertising fees, and more for Promotion and Sponsored Listing campaigns.
In the Merchant Portal, select Reports on the left-hand menu bar
Press the red Create report button on the top right
Here, you can see the types of reports and what channels are available for each (Marketplace, Online Ordering, Drive On-Demand, etc)
Choose Marketing and select Next
Select Marketplace
Choose if you want this to be a one-time report, or a recurring report
Select a start and end date within the last two years
Select Promotions
Click Create report
You will receive an email when your report is ready for download. Once created, reports can be accessed from the Reports section for 7 days.
What happens if I already have campaigns?
You'll be prompted to review and accept updated Marketing Services Terms
If you accept, your existing campaigns will be migrated to Smart Campaigns
The following settings remain unchanged:
Store selection
Campaign dates
Scheduling
Weekly budget
The following settings become automated:
Targeting
Discount amounts
Subtotal minimums
Redemption limits per customer
To opt out, select the banner under Campaign Reporting in the Marketing tab.
How do Smart Campaigns work for BOGO offers?
For Buy One, Get One (BOGO) promotions, Smart Campaigns automatically determine which customers see BOGO offers and which items are included.
Key requirements and rules:
Only select customers will see BOGO offers
Each Smart Campaign can include up to three BOGO menu items
You must have at least five eligible menu items, including one popular item
You can exclude specific items from BOGO eligibility
Smart Campaigns automatically manage:
Item pricing
Number of items shown
Weekly spend limits
These controls help keep your promotional spend within your selected budget.
