DoorDash Ads and Promotions Policies
DoorDash is committed to providing advertisers and consumers with a safe and trustworthy advertising experience. All advertisers are required to agree to and comply with the DoorDash Terms of Service, any DoorDash Advertising Terms and Conditions you have agreed to, as well as these DoorDash Advertising Policies. Advertisers are solely responsible for ensuring their use of products and services and any ads comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards or self-regulatory guidelines. Advertisers are also required to be honest and transparent about the products or services that they promote.
All ads may be subject to DoorDash review and approval. We reserve the right to reject or remove any ad in our sole discretion, for any reason. We also reserve the right to request modifications to any ad, to require factual substantiation for any claim made in an ad, or to require documents evidencing that you hold any license or authorization which may be required in connection with your ad. We take violations of these Advertising Policies seriously, and may take action when they occur. Enforcement actions range from removal of products or services from the DoorDash ad platform, to termination of advertiser accounts.
These Advertising Policies are subject to change, and advertisers are encouraged to periodically review this document for the most current policy information.
Campaign Reporting Data
You may only use DoorDash campaign reporting data for your internal purposes to plan and evaluate your DoorDash campaigns. You are prohibited from tying campaign reporting data to any customer personal information, and from selling or otherwise disclosing it to any third party.
Ad Content
Prohibited content for all Ads
Advertisers, advertisements, and creative content is prohibited if it is inconsistent with DoorDash values, or involves, facilitates, promotes, or links to one or more of the following:
Deceptive, false, or misleading content
Content that infringes the intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other legal rights of any person or entity. This includes ads for products or services principally used to infringe the intellectual property rights of others, such as those designed to bypass copyright protection mechanisms, or to sell counterfeit products and ads which include false testimonials, endorsements or reviews
Content directly targeted at or appeal to children due to the messaging or imagery
Content promoting practices that can result in the physical or mental harm of customers
Comparative advertising claims that are not properly substantiated or which name a specific competitor
Exploitative content
Content that encourages, glamorizes, or depicts excessive consumption of drugs or alcohol
Violence or gore
Content that exploits of sensitive events such as natural disasters, human-caused disasters, or incidents of mass trauma, casualties, or the death of public figures
Content that is obscene, controversial, defamatory, libelous, illegal, or invasive of another’s privacy
Political advertising
Pornography, nudity, explicit sexual content, or obscene adult materials
Threatening, abusive, intolerant, or harassing content that advocates for or discriminates against a protected group
Inappropriate, vulgar, or otherwise insensitive content
Prohibited products and services
DoorDash restricts the sale and delivery of certain items such as those included in this non-exhaustive Restricted Items on DoorDash resource. Additionally, the following products and services are never allowed to be promoted through DoorDash ad products, regardless of local laws or regulations.
Adult sexual services such as escorts
Fireworks, explosives, firearms, weaponry, ammunition, and their parts
Paintball guns, airsoft guns, BB guns
Permanent tattoo and body branding products
Recreational drugs including cannabis, Kratom, and inhalants like nitrous oxide
Drug paraphernalia such as bongs, pipes, and grinders
Replica or counterfeit goods
Supplements that are anabolic steroids, or contain ephedra, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), or any active pharmaceutical or dangerous ingredient
Surveillance equipment or devices
Tobacco, including e-cigarettes or other smokeless tobacco products (not including smoking cessation products)
Restricted products and services
The following products and services may be promoted through DoorDash ad products as long as advertisers meet the specified requirements for each product or service.
Alcohol
Alcohol advertisers must be pre-approved for alcohol ads
Alcohol advertising may not promote drinking to excess, lowering of inhibitions, and must comply with all applicable laws, industry standards, guidelines, licenses, and approvals
CBD
CBD product advertisers must be pre-approved for ads
CBD advertising must comply with all applicable laws, industry standards, licenses, and approvals
Home test kits, including DNA kits
Home test kits that provide ancestry and summarized health-related information are generally allowed
Home test kits that provide detailed health results such as a person’s risk for hereditary diseases, are not allowed in ads
At-home drug testing kits are not allowed in ads
Health and Medical devices
Common, non-prescription, everyday items that are classified as health or medical devices but do not require a medical professional’s supervision for use (such as tongue depressors, pregnancy tests, toothbrushes, bandages, bedpans, PPE, etc) are generally allowed in ads
All other medical devices are not allowed in ads without prior approval
Over the counter (OTC) medicines
Must comply with all applicable laws, including any guidelines set by the FDA or FTC
Ads may not claim or imply OTC’s: (i) are as effective as prescription drugs; (ii) can cure, treat, or reduce the risk of disease or medical conditions; (iii) have off-label uses; (iv) are safe, harmless, or have little to no risk; or (v) have FDA approval
Period products
Non-prescription period products such as tampons, menstrual cups, and liners, are generally allowed in ads
Prescription period products such as delayed period medications are not allowed in ads
Prescription drugs and products
Advertisers must be pre-approved
Prescription products must be FDA approved and ads must follow all applicable law and FDA guidelines
Adult Products, Sexual health and contraceptive products
Products for adults or sexual health such as condoms, intimate hygiene, enhancers and lubricants are generally allowed in ads
Non-prescription contraceptives are generally allowed in ads
Ads may only promote either the health benefit, product attribute, or product branding of a contraceptive
Additional category restrictions may apply or require approval at DoorDash’s discretion
Dietary Supplements and Vitamins
Common, non-prescription supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and fish oil are generally allowed in ads
Supplements that claim or promote specific medical outcomes, or are marketed to be as effective as prescription products, are not allowed in ads
Ads must comply with applicable law and regulatory guidelines, including, but not limited to the FTC Dietary Supplement Advertising Guidelines, and any claims must be substantiated in accordance with the FDA Dietary Supplement Industry Guidance
Weight loss products and services
Weight loss products and services that encourage unhealthy or unrealistic weight loss results are not allowed in ads
Fat burners, fat blockers, and other similar weight loss supplements are not allowed in ads
Any permitted ads for weight loss products or services must follow applicable law and FTC guidance on weight loss claims
